A Night of Disney dreaming to Close PFW
Any fan of fashion believes in a little magic. Painstakingly crystal-embellished looks, sculptural structures and innovative ‘It’ bag shapes are created when designers dare to dream. And for Coperni’s Spring/Summer 2025 show, it’s safe to say we were all dreaming a little. The label’s co-founders Sébastien Meyer and Arnaud Vaillant turned to the most magical place on earth to hold their show, Disneyland Paris. Enchantment, the bustling aura of creativity … magic, and that was before the first model stepped foot on the runway. It took us all back to being a child, inundated with the pure joy of anticipation and excitement.

Everything about this fairytale setting indicated that we were in for a very special show. From the runway with a backdrop of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle dazzlingly lit up, to the guests sitting front row swapping statement designer sunglasses for Mickey and Minnie Mouse ears (how could we resist?!). But nothing could quite have prepared us fashion set for the wonderland that awaited. From retro Disney details and accessories inspired by our favourite characters to falling down the rabbit hole discovering new takes on statement silhouettes and voluminous fabrics, and watching Miss Kylie Jenner make her Paris Fashion Week runway debut. This was a show that will go down in fashion history.
I was one of the lucky guests invited to feel like a Disney princess for the night and witness the worlds of high fashion and childlike wonder collide. It was a dream worthy of a fairy tale, and I had the coolest outfit to match, complete with a pair of my new favourite Coperni denim belt boots.

Now, let’s get into my five key takeaways from the show. I can’t wait to get started. Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo!

Making a Modern Day Princess
It’s a tale as old as time. The princess aesthetic has been influencing fashion long before today’s viral TikTok cores. While the decadence of a bejewelled ball gown will always hold a certain allure, we’re faced with the conundrum of how to dress like a fairy-tale main character today. The answer? For SS25, Coperni made looks for modern day princesses. All the elements of dreamlike opulence were on the runway, just reworked to not look out of place in today’s fashion landscape.
Stretchy black jumpsuits and mini dresses featured statement puff sleeves detached from the main body and ballooning hems made from structured satin with plenty of volume, sometimes in black and sometimes in contrasting ballerina pink and Cinderella blue. These swished as models walked underneath the drawbridge of Sleeping Beauty’s Castle. I can really see this style of simple black figure-hugging elements paired with voluminous, more traditionally formal materials becoming a huge evening wear trend and a celebrity favourite on the red carpet. And this kind of silhouette wasn’t exclusive to these contrasting materials, it even appeared on a pair of jeans?! Princesses, but first and foremost, cool girls.

The most regal looking of all was Kylie Jenner, channelling her famous King Kylie era. She closed the show in a dropped-waist strapless black number, made from a stretchy material across the bodice before ballooning into a fully fledged crinkled satin princess-style skirt that fell to the floor, and accessorised with elbow-length gloves.

And it seems that there is more than one way to dress like a princess today. Coperni sent models down the runway in dresses with fringe tattered details, like a Disney princess after she’d gotten tired of waiting for her prince to come and save her and had instead taken matters into her own hands, battling the beast and making it to the end of the story by herself. The ultimate display of girl power and an inventive take on the enduring fringe and distressed tattered effect we’ve been seeing on dresses for a while now.

In Your Disney Villain Era
For every Disney princess there’s an equally well-known (and, dare I say, often more stylish) Disney villain. So, of course, this selection of antiheros earned themselves an appearance in the show. Bolts of thunder and lightning mid-way through signalled that this collection was entering its Disney villain era. Devilishly beautiful all-black looks flooded the runway. My favourite was a bustier dress with Maleficent-style horns forming the neckline.
Models including Irina Shayk and Amelia Gray wore black shiny croc-effect coats, asymmetrical skirts and accessories (*big incoming trend alert*), plus classic black tailoring made bewitching. I love how some looks were styled with one-legged trousers and tights for extra dramatic effect. It was certainly avant-garde but we also saw this at Louis Vuitton so perhaps it signals a potential new trend, and who better to pull off this bold look than a Disney villain?

Everyday Fairy Tale
Aside from statement-making ensembles and A-list celebrity sightings, the magic of Paris Fashion Week lies in the details of looks that can add a little something special to our everyday wardrobe. For SS25, Coperni brought the novelty fun that makes Disney so beloved to classic pieces. Retro Disney graphic tees mixed in with a selection of newer iterations, one emblazoned with – Coperni Princess (where do I sign up?), plus Disney pin badges (if you know, you know) all added to the collection’s playful sense of whimsy.
For a more subtle approach, pleated puff shoulders, ruffle trims and frill cuffs on jacquard and denim jackets offered a contemporary twist on 20th century regal fashion. And organza butterflies and 3D rose motifs made simple looks feel a little magical.

There were also Disney character details galore. Mickey Mouse ears adorned Coperni’s cult-favourite Swipe bag as well as shoes, and dresses were defined by the silhouette of Sleeping Beauty’s tiara. Plus, horn details throughout the collection for those who prefer to root for Disney villains.

An Ethereal Fantasy
Ethereal looks have been everywhere on the runways this SS25 season. Not only is ethereal dressing one of the more wearable runway trends we’ve seen, it incorporates existing popular design details like sheer fabrics and asymmetrical draping. While many designers have leaned into the more light and angelic looks, Coperni was more varied with its approach. Sheer fabric with feathering flower embellishments was layered over pastel hues of lilac, yellow, and (my favourite) Cinderella blue, and a gorgeously draped white maxi dress that looked straight out of Disney’s Hercules classic graced the runway. Coperni paid homage to the villains too. High-neck asymmetrical one-sleeve dresses had horizontal cutouts above the chest and hanging sections of rose-adorned ruffles as part of all-black looks.

Just a Little Bit of Magic
Just like Disney, Coperni has always been about using cutting-edge technology, sprinkled with just a little bit of magic, to fuel innovation. It’s the label that gave us the iconic Bella Hadid spray-on dress of SS23, after all. So for Coperni’s Disneyland excursion, we were expecting something just as exciting. And the brand delivered. Introducing the new Ariel Swipe bag. Drawing inspiration from The Little Mermaid, this latest iteration of the iconic ‘It’ bag design is crafted from recycled silicone and platinum cured and developed in an environmentally-conscious way, suspended in a water-based gel to make it soft and stretchy. Aquatic AND princess-themed, I’m already a fan!

So it’s safe to say that my childhood dream of going to Disneyland has well and truly been fulfilled. It was an evening full of everything any fashion lover’s heart could desire and made us all believe in the power of magic. My final closing statement? COPERNI. WON. FASHION. WEEK.
