MY 5 TAKEAWAYS FROM CHLOÉ SS25

JUST A CHLOÉ GIRL, LIVING IN A CHLOÉ WORLD

A Chloé girl believes in boho dressing. But not the fleeting kind that’s all about flower crowns and fringe. She believes in the beauty of towering ruffles on sheer dresses, gorgeous leather accessories and the most masterful layering. Most importantly, a Chloé girl knows that boho style is not just about the clothes she wears, it’s a philosophy of dressing centred around that certain je ne sais quoi confidence and playful whimsy us fashion set love. Creative Director Chemena Kamali understands this. After all, she’s a Chloé girl herself.

Since impressing with her Chloé debut at the Autumn/Winter 2024 show last season, the pressure has been on for Kamali’s first-ever Spring/Summer Chloé collection. But, ever the cool big sister of style, she had it covered. Sending models down the forage-decorated runway in pantaloons (yes, you read that right), tiered bubble-hem dresses, cool ‘70s tailoring with vintage frills and the most delightfully fun shoes and covetable bags you can imagine.

Naturally, us Chloé girls all flocked to Paris for the house’s Spring/Summer 2025 show, ruffles and gold boho jewellery in tow. I absolutely adored my outfit. A silk muslin midi dress with cascading ruffles, plus thigh-high black suede boots and a black Chloé Bracelet bag

Now, shall we get into it? Let’s take a look at my top five takeaways from the show.

Bubbles Bubbles, Everywhere

It was bubble galore at Chloé this season, but not in the way you might have expected. The bubble-hem effect has now lent itself to trousers and shorts in the form of pantaloons and tiny bloomer styles. I’m guessing I’m not the only one who didn’t have this on their bingo card for PFW SS25! But if there’s anyone who can make Victorian undergarments for the cool girls of today, it’s Kamali. In a mix of cotton voile and sheer lace, pantaloons and tiny bloomer shorts had a bubble shape before tapering at the hem. The result was one hell of a statement silhouette that’s more wearable then you might think, still with a classically Chloé boho lightness.

There were also bubble details of the more typical style, but no less awe-inspiring. Cascades of chiffon ruffles billowing down the runway, short at the front and floor-length at the back to create an almost regal-esque high-low silhouette. Spaghetti straps and frill-trimmed scoop necks gave these a casual feel that will prove a dream come holiday dressing next summer. Plus, there was bubble sleeves on sheer blouses and dresses, as well as cropped jackets – a super-wearable way to style the bubble trend that doesn’t seem to be going anywhere.

‘70s Chic Meets ‘20s Elegance

Chic ‘70s dressing is in Chloé’s bones. Karl Lagerfeld was at the helm then and his focus on softly refined style throughout the decade marked an iconic time for the house. Kamali dove deep into the Chloé archives to inform a series of looks that were all about this kind of soft ‘70s chic. Impeccably tailored suits and super-versatile high-waisted trousers with subtle flares in dreamy faded blue and orange pastels went hand in hand with ’20s-circa vintage lace and ruffles. We could see the iconic flapper silhouette’s influence on the fluid lace tops worn with suits, too. A gorgeous display of eras colliding.

The New Utility Uniform

Utility dressing is a timeless style trope for good reason. But sometimes it can feel a little (dare I say) … boring. This SS25 season, it seems to be getting a revamp. Kamali is introducing a new kind of utility jacket that’s tailor made for the Chloé girl. Functional and light but still a sturdy staple, these jackets come in suede, leather and cotton with gathers at the prominent shoulders for a more statement and feminine silhouette. In a mix of cropped and longline shapes in simple neutrals, muted pastels and even Egyptian blue, this style is set to prove a great investment and make transitional dressing easy. There was also a longline leather gilet with cargo-style pockets that I’ve got my eye on.

Beach, Boho & Ballet Shoes Galore

Jelly platform wedges, jelly flip flops with an itty-bitty block heel, V-shape lace-up kitten heels, crochet flats, high-top trainers, plus designs with a drawstring tie at the front and hanging shell charms. Didn’t you hear? Shoes next summer are about so much more than just sandals. A fun element of whimsy ran through all of the footwear on offer. I can’t be the only one who’s excited.

Chloé Wins at Bags

I’ve always had a soft spot for Chloé bags. But the SS25 collection really raised the bar. Kamali moved on the popular bracelet bag style with a new beautiful lilac suede iteration, and incorporated bracelet-style top handles in other designs, too. There were also intricately woven leather styles adopting the crescent shape, delicate chain fringe tassels and shoulder bags with cargo-style pockets and an excess of charms that felt very fun. A beachy theme was undoubtedly present, think fisherman mesh sacks and shell-shaped designs.

And that’s my first show of PFW SS25 completed. Kamali’s follow up to her inaugural Chloé collection was a hit. It proved that boho dressing, just like love for Kamali’s era at Chloé, isn’t going anywhere.

More of my runway takeaways are coming soon, so stay tuned.
