INTRODUCING A NEW-SEASON HERMÈS RAINBOW
Colour trends in fashion are always changing. And in the world of Hermès, they seem to exist in a totally different universe. Hermès colours, both new additions for the season and returning favourites, become jewels on our wishlists that we grow to fixate on, save up for and even curate entire wardrobes around – who else can tell I’m a tad obsessed?! But, whatever lengths we’re all going to in order to keep up with the drool-worthy assortment of shades each season, Hermès colours are a huge deal in this coveted corner of the luxury fashion sphere. To those of us who celebrate, happy Hermès Autumn/Winter 2024 colours! This season is not going to disappoint.
There are three new colours for AW24 and plenty of returning favourites so let’s get into it. First up, the three new shades …
Rose Darling
As much as I do love wearing colour, pink doesn’t always seem to speak to me in the way that fierce pops of red, muted greens and icy blues do. But this season that has changed. I’m currently crushing on the new Rose Darling shade. This colour is undeniably beautiful. It sits somewhere between Rose Sakura (a dreamy blossom pink and certified favourite of Hermès connoisseurs) and Mauve Pale (a muted pink shade with subtle lilac undertones that’s elegant and very feminine).
Rose Darling is already proving a great addition to the family of Hermès pinks. I can see it slotting into the collections of Hermès addicts whose offerings are centred around vibrant colours with plenty of whimsy, just as well as it will suit those of us who favour traditional neutrals for our most classic Hermès bags (I’m definitely part of this camp). On my evergrowing wishlist in this shade is a Mini Kelly, of course, plus I also think this new colour would be gorgeous in a Kelly Pochette to add a subtle pop of pink to my evening looks.

Vert Peppermint
Up next is Vert Peppermint. As the name would suggest, it’s a minty green shade and it looks … kinda delicious. I feel like green as a colour always feels very trendy. Whether it’s the bright parakeet green shade that Daniel Lee made synonymous with Bottega Veneta in 2021, or the vibrant lime hue that Sabato De Sarno has made a staple of his tenure so far at Gucci – green is one colour that always seems to be in demand. And, like with all the new Hermès colour options for AW24, Vert Peppermint is a way to introduce colour into your Hermès collection in a more subtle way. It’s similar to the existing Vert Fizz which I have a Kelly Pochette in and absolutely ADORE. However, the new Vert Peppermint is more pigmented, despite it still being a very muted green. The result is a playful pastel effect that adds a bolder pop of colour to looks.
I personally prefer the existing Vert Fizz as despite it being a colour, its super pale tone lends it the versatility of a neutral while still feeling a little different. But the new Vert Peppermint is a great option if you want to introduce a softly statement colour into your collection that strikes the perfect balance between bold and muted. I think it would be gorgeous in smaller bags like a Constance 18 and Birkin 25.

Gris Platine
And now we move onto the newest Hermès neutral for AW24, so of course I’m excited! Gris Platine is a very light, silvery grey with a gorgeous almost icy blue undertone that clearly differentiates it from other Hermès greys we’ve seen before. I’m already a huge fan of this shade and it’s definitely going on my wishlist. It feels super minimalist but also very different to the greys I already have in my Hermès collection.
My Birkin in Etoupe is such a go-to option for me, endlessly versatile and it’s great teamed with neutral earthy tones like camel coloured trench coats and brown suede boots that are autumn favourites this year. But the new Gris Platine offers a lighter and, in my opinion, a sharper and sleeker option. I think it’s better suited to a wider range of pieces than Etoupe and many of Hermès’ other greys. Think small structured designs like the Mini Kelly, Kelly Elan and Kelly en Desordre, plus other bags built for practicality like the Birkin 35.

And now onto the returning Hermès favourites for AW24. This season has everything I love. Think rich red and burgundy hues – these are of course having their moment in fashion’s trend spotlight for AW24 but these shades are undeniable Hermès classics that are always in demand, whether you plan on reselling or not). There’s also a fair share of vibrant hues to satisfy any Hermès colour fanatic (it’s making me tempted to branch out and embrace the Hermès rainbow). Plus, a dreamy cohort of trusty neutrals – creams, coffees and caramels all season long please! Let’s take a look.
Fiery Reds & Burnt Burgundies
I could write about my love for these rich Hermès shades all day long, so I’m going to try and keep this to the point. Burgundy Birkins and Kellys are my boujee bread and butter of choice when it comes to Hermès. They have the statement-making appeal of a fun vibrant colour but also feel very classic. It also helps that burgundy is the ‘It’ colour of this season so there’s no shortage of styling inspo but reds and burgundies are, of course, timeless. My favourites for AW24 are Rouge H, Rouge Sellier and Rouge Piment.

Name What’s Better Than A Neutral?
It’s forever neutral season at Hermès and my wishlist is ALWAYS full to the brim with a slew of bags in colours that can slot into minimalist looks, plus act as classic pieces to create more fun and colourful outfits around. For AW24, it’s all about classic creams, Etoupe (an Hermès icon that I’m so lucky to own), and there’s a real focus on chocolatey browns like Fauve and Beige de Weimar that are going to look beautiful alongside this season’s suede footwear and espresso-themed ensembles. Dorè is also a really cool choice. It’s a gold with camel coloured undertones – great as a neutral that has a metallic element to create a soft statement.

A Vivid Palette
My Hermès collection is admittedly lacking in bold bright colours so that makes me all the more intrigued to discover the vivid hues on offer this season. Sunshine yellows, juicy oranges and happy sky blues. Hermès bright colours for AW24 have all the variation that we’ve seen in recent runways. The blue options have caught my eye. I’ve always been a fan of the Blue Brume (particularly in Kellys), I love the icy look of it, but the deeper blue shades like the Blue Frida and Bleu Zephyr are gorgeous and would give so many simple looks a bold finish.

That rounds off this season’s Hermès colour breakdown. There was a lot to unpack (Hermès is really treating us for AW24). The new colours are super strong, they feel very new and fresh but appear in neutral tones for a gorgeously soft aesthetic. And as for returning options, there’s a lot to love. What are your thoughts on Hermès AW24 colours and which shades are you adding to your Hermès wishlist?
