One-and-done pieces that make everyday dressing feel effortless, stylish and summer-ready
There’s something truly magical about the ease of spring and summer dressing. The sun’s out, the days are longer, and suddenly, getting dressed in the morning feels a little more effortless – and a lot more fun.
When it comes to my everyday outfits during this time of year, dresses are my go-to. They’re the easiest styling trick I know: one piece, and you’re done. Whether I’m heading out for coffee with a friend, a casual office day, or a weekend away with my partner, a good spring/summer dress never lets me down.
The best thing about these warmer months is that you don’t need layers. Most days, it’s warm enough to throw on a light dress, slip into a pair of ballet flats, and you’re ready to go. No fuss, no stress – just breezy, effortless style.
Another reason I love dresses this time of year? They’re perfect for travel. Easy to pack, they take up hardly any space in my suitcase, and yet, with just one piece, I have a full outfit ready to wear. It’s that kind of simplicity that makes dressing feel joyful again.
This summer, I’m gravitating towards light, breathable fabrics like cotton, linen, and silk. I’ve also found myself going a size up when it comes to day dresses – there’s something so lovely about a more relaxed fit. It gives that casual, effortless feel I love, and most importantly, I feel comfortable all day long.
A few brands I’m especially loving this season: Abadia, ESSE Studios, and Proenza Schouler – I’ve already picked up a few pieces from each for summer. Of course, Khaite and The Row remain timeless staples in my wardrobe, and their summer dress collections are, as always, on point.
While I usually lean towards neutral tones, this year I’ve also fallen for pastels – soft butter yellow, blush pink, and blue shades are giving me life. And for those days when I want something a little bolder, I’ve been reaching for a striking red dress that instantly lifts my mood.
