New Year’s resolutions

Intentions for the year ahead

Every year, I like to start January with intention. Setting goals and resolutions gives me structure and helps me stay focused on what truly matters to me. It’s my way of checking in with myself, defining what I expect from the year ahead, and gently guiding my energy in the right direction. At the beginning of each year, I always write my resolutions down in my journal – not as strict rules, but as reminders of how I want to live, feel, and grow.

1. Tennis Lessons

This year, during a holiday, I spent time playing tennis – and I loved it. It felt fun, energising, and surprisingly grounding. What started as something casual quickly turned into a desire to improve and challenge myself. One of my resolutions for the year ahead is to take tennis lessons and truly commit to getting better, not for perfection, but for the joy of learning something new and staying active in a way that feels exciting.

2. Staying Present During Wedding Planning

The upcoming year is the year of my wedding, and with such a big and emotional milestone, it’s easy to slip into autopilot on the day itself or feel overwhelmed by expectations. One of my most important resolutions is to be truly present and enjoy every moment as it unfolds. I don’t want to spend that day focused on details, schedules, or pleasing others – I want to live it fully, soak in the emotions, and hold on to the joy that sits at the very heart of it all.

3. Making Rest a Priority

There are periods where I go more than a month without a single full day off, and while I love what I do, I’ve learned that this pace isn’t sustainable. This year, I want to organise my time better so that I have at least one day a week dedicated to rest, no matter the season. I also want to plan more holidays where I can truly disconnect, slow down, and recharge – without working, without rushing, just being present.

4. Reading One Book a Month

I love books, but they’re often the first thing to get pushed aside when life gets busy. Reading relaxes me in a way nothing else does – it allows me to escape, reset, and disconnect from reality more deeply than films ever could. This resolution ties closely to making more time for myself, slowing down, and creating space for moments that bring calm and inspiration.

5. Listening to My Intuition

Listening to my intuition is something I truly believe in, and it’s a resolution I want to carry forward. There will always be challenges, doubts, and people who question your choices. That doesn’t mean they wish you harm – sometimes what’s right for you simply isn’t the right solution for someone else. Learning to trust that inner feeling, that quiet voice guiding you, is essential when making important decisions. My intuition remains one of my most valuable tools, and I want to honour it even more this year.

Wrapping It Up

As I step into the new year, these resolutions aren’t about pressure or perfection. They’re about alignment – with myself, my values, and the life I want to create. They serve as gentle reminders to stay present, trust myself, and make space for joy, rest, and growth along the way.
