Style guide for every occasion
The moment June rolls in, so do the invitations. Graduation ceremonies, weddings, birthday dinners, summer office parties – the social calendar fills up fast, and suddenly we’re dressing for something special every other weekend. It’s exciting, but also slightly overwhelming when you realise your wardrobe needs to keep up with the pace.
For me, dressing for event season isn’t about trends alone. It’s about feeling like the best version of myself – confident, comfortable, and occasion-appropriate. So I’ve broken it down into five categories to help you navigate the season with style and ease.
Graduation Moments
Whether you’re the one graduating or simply attending, comfort is key. Long ceremonies call for breathable fabrics and silhouettes you can sit, stand, and celebrate in. I love a pretty midi dress or a soft tailored set that feels elevated yet effortless. There’s no need for ultra-short dresses or anything too bold – this is a moment for understated elegance.

Weddings, Everywhere
Summer weddings can be dreamy, but dressing for them can get complicated. The safest way to look great is to opt for something flowy and feminine – think wrap dresses, lightweight slips, or soft floral prints. I always try to keep the setting in mind, whether it’s a beach, a vineyard or a city hall. One rule that never fails: never wear white, no matter how cream, ivory or lace-trimmed it might be.

Birthday Celebrations
This is your moment to play. Whether it’s your birthday or someone close to you, it’s the perfect chance to wear something bold, fun and unapologetically you. Prints, colours, co-ords, silky sets – anything that brings joy. And if it’s your day, don’t hold back. A little sparkle or an eye-catching accessory can go a long way.

Office Summer Parties / Team Building Events
Striking that balance between polished and relaxed can be tricky, but this is where I love to bring in soft tailoring. A pastel or linen suit instantly looks cool and professional without being stiff. You can even mix a blazer with matching shorts or wide-leg trousers. Add sleek flats or low block heels, and you’re ready for anything from rooftop drinks to awkward icebreaker games.

Last-Minute Invites
We all get those spontaneous texts – dinner at 8, see you there. That’s why I always keep one or two “in case of emergency” outfits at hand. A versatile midi dress, a silk blouse and jeans combo, or even a jumpsuit you can dress up or down. Add statement earrings, a swipe of lipstick, and you’re out the door in ten minutes flat.
