Butter yellow, burgundy, ballerina pink & more
Who doesn’t love summer colours? Warm yellows that appear as if they’ve been basking in sunny rays, pretty pastels that make for dreamy street style shots, and vividly vibrant shades that seem to be created specifically with your holiday wardrobe in mind. But the Hermès rainbow, like everything Hermès does, is not so straightforward. For Spring/Summer 2025, an exciting cohort of fan-favourite colours are returning to Hermès’ roster of shades. I’ve already covered the brand-new colours joining the Hermès ranks in a previous post, so go check that out if you haven’t already.
There’s a larger offering of returning shades than usual this season (no complaints here) and an abundance of colour – the blues and greens feel particularly plentiful. Quite a few shades that have been laying dormant in Hermès’ archive are in production again which is very exciting news on the colours front since this means a lot of variation available in each hue. And, of course, we can’t forget about the delectable selection of delicious neutrals that are anything but boring. Hermès is truly making a case for butter yellow as the ultimate (and timeless) warm neutral shade. So let’s delve into some of the standouts. Expect on-trend hues of the season, including ballerina pink and mocha mousse brown, plus neutral heroes, an impressive range of blues, leafy greens, and the burgundies you guys know I love.
Neutrals … Butter Yellow Included
There’s been a lot of fanfare amongst the Hermès community over the abundance of colours this season. But I’d argue that the neutrals being offered up for SS25 are just as impressive. Think rich chocolate browns like Fauve, plus Chai and Beige Marfa that make me think of the mocha mousse brown that everyone’s fawning over on Instagram right now. There’s also chestnut and bronze hues, including Chamois and Alezan that are among the most timeless Hermès picks out there. Poussière, a delicious-looking butter biscuit carmel, is a standout for me.
But what I’m perhaps most impressed with is this season’s choice of butter yellow variations. This is technically a colour but these Hermès shades present it as more neutral-leaning. And while butter yellow is a huge styling phenomenon right now, these Hermès hues feel incredibly timeless. Jaune Milton is a great option, it’s very muted but still yellow enough to feel playful for summer (and an absolute DREAM on Picotin bags). If you want a butter yellow that’s a little more vivid but still light enough to be classed under the butter yellow umbrella, the classic favourite Jaune Poussin is back.

Reds & Burgundies
In addition to the brand-new Rouge Radieux, this season bets big on classic favourites from this side of the colour wheel. There’s the brilliantly vibrant Rouge de Coeur (coeur means heart in French so how can you not love this name?!), plus more orange-toned picks like Brique. This colour can look very different depending on the material but it often has a brown-ish quality that makes it a great near-neutral option. Of course, I can’t not mention the burgundies. The return of Rouge H (my favourite) and Rouge Sellier will no doubt please many die-hard Hermès fanatics (myself included). These classics are gorgeous for Kellys (particularly Sellier options, in my opinion) as well as larger Birkin bags.

Pretty in Pink & Purple
Instantly opulent but in a way that us Hermès collectors know can still prove very versatile, pretty pinks and purples are a delight when they’re offered from the boutique (or discovered on the resale market). For SS25, the darling from this category is, of course, the returning Rose Darling. This light ballerina pink was new for AW24 and is now in regular bag production this season which has, unsurprisingly, gotten the Hermès community VERY excited. I’m picturing this shade on Picotin bags as part of Euro Summer this year (if you know, you know) and also I’d like to formally make a wish for a Mini Kelly in Rose Darling too (a girl can dream … right?).
There’s also the popular Rose Sakura and Bubblegum that are great if you want a light-ish pink that’s a little more vivid. Rose Extreme is much darker and very vibrant, it’s more of a hot pink which I actually think can prove pretty versatile and this shade always proves a fan favourite so it’s good to see it make a return. In terms of purple, there seems to be a focus on darker shades. Cassis is a classic grape shade and I’m also a fan of the very dark Prunoir colour because of its near-neutral quality.

Why So Blue?
For me, blues are proving the standout colour of the Hermès offering this season. Bleu Hydra, a gorgeously vibrant pop of cobalt blue, is making an almighty return to all of our delights. There are also some beautiful icy blues (like Bleu Lin and Bleu Glacier) to take note of. To me, these almost silvery shades are simply made for Mini Kellys. The navy offering is strong too, there’s Bleu Abysse and Bleu Nuit, plus Bleu Saphir which appears more vibrant and is available in exotics. I know how much I love my Hermès Kelly Cut Clutch in dark green exotic leather so I feel like this is a good option if you’re after a similar kind of effect but prefer blue over green.

Eat Your Greens
In the spirit of prioritising health, I’m paying a lot of attention to greens for SS25, Hermès greens that is. In addition to the new green-grey-ish Vert Mangrove, there are brighter and more playful options like the parakeet green Bambou, Vert Vertigo, plus the almost pastel Vert Criquet and Vert d’Eau which are perfect for summer (and Mini Kellys). Vert Peppermint is also returning to the Hermès colour roster this season. It was another new addition last season alongside Rose Darling so it’s nice to see this newbie make a return. The name sounds Christmassy but this minty fresh green actually feels like an ideal shade for spring and summer thanks to its charming pastel effect.

My Favourite Green: Vert Fizz / Vert d’eau
And that concludes my discussion of Hermès colours for SS25. This season has been particularly strong. Standouts include dreamy neutrals (the chocolate browns and mocha mousses especially), plus colours which are near-neutrals, like everyone’s current favourite butter yellow shade (Hermès’s take on this colour of the moment is incredibly timeless so what’s not to love). There’s no shortage of blues to choose from (everything from baby to navy is on the table) and I’m delighted to see shades like Rose Darling and Vert Peppermint that were new last season make a return. Whatever kind of Hermès fan or collector you are, there’s something to feast your eyes on.
