Introducing The Miu Miu Plume Sneakers

The worlds of sneakerheads and high fashion aficionados have collided in the past few years. The result is that many of us fashion girlies have joined forces with streetwear fanatics and we too have become sneakerheads. Committed to carefully curating our collection of sneakers for work, play and everything in between, the art of sneaker shopping has become one of my favourite style pastimes recently. And one of my go-to brands for my sporty footwear obsession is Miu Miu. 

The ultimate cool-girl label, Miu Miu has had some big wins with its sneaker offering. Fashion footwear fanatics are still fawning over Miu Miu’s collaboration with New Balance and styles like the 530 SL sneakers from this pairing always seem to sell out the moment they drop. But now I want to discuss another sporty shoe option from Miu Miu. Introducing the new Miu Miu Plume sneakers. Light and understated with a slim silhouette that’s perfect for running around everyday in, Miu Miu’s Plume sneakers have become my newest go-to pair. So it’s time to take a closer look at this design, see how it matches up to other trending sneakers and discover how I’m styling my new favourite sporty shoes. Let’s go! 

Sneakers are those trusty footwear heroes in our wardrobes that we always rely on so it’s important that, above all else, they’re comfortable. The lightness of the Plume design was the first thing I noticed when putting them on my feet. Chunky sneaker styles have long been a dominant force within the market but slimmer, lighter styles have been steadily gaining traction for a while now. Picks like the Adidas Sambas have helped pioneer the rise of retro sporty designs with a thin sole, and Miu Miu’s Plume sneakers feel like the perfect expansion of this. The design plays into the soccer sneaker trend but in a minimalist way that makes this pair so easy to style. Miu Miu’s signature irreverent style with a fun sporty touch. I’m so here for it.

This style may be trending on TikTok but the Miu Miu Plume sneakers are far from a fleeting fashion fad. They have all the makings of a new cult classic. It’s certainly true that the new Plume design taps into a couple of different popular sneaker trends of the moment, but Miu Miu’s new creation also feels very unique. Plus, the fact that they’re also offered in a suede option is another signal that suede styling is here to stay. This (as a shock to no one) makes me VERY happy.

The ultimate pair of sneakers for transitional styling, Miu Miu’s new Plume design is proving to be everything I look for in a pair of versatile shoes (and then some). With a thin sole and minimalist design, they quite literally go with anything. I’ve been loving running around the city in my pair teamed with everything from knee-skimming trench coats to jeans. They even look great with simple tailoring – an easy way to make a blazer with trousers or a skirt feel a little more casual and comfortable for work. Or, for an effortless everyday look, you can pair them with a simple denim dress.

Miu Miu’s new Plume sneakers are a fresh and unique design for the brand. But it’s certainly still worth comparing the new Plume style with a few existing designs to see how they match up. The most obvious comparison is, of course, with the Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL sneakers, and I also own this pair in a sand-coloured suede. Upon first glance, these two designs are pretty similar but there’s no denying that the Plume’s strikingly minimalist finish sets them apart. I think that the understated element of the Plume’s design makes them even easier to style. Plus, my Miu Miu x New Balance 530 SL sneakers are shearling lined so they’re best suited to the colder autumn and winter months, while the Plume sneakers feel very appropriate for spring. 

There’s also been a lot of talk comparing the Miu Miu Plume sneakers to the Adidas Sambas. They both have a thin sole and an undeniably retro sporty influence but, for me, I think that the similarities end there. The Sambas’ signature three-stripe detail across the side gives them a very different look to the Plume’s sleek and understated finish.

So let’s round up. Miu Miu’s new Plume sneakers are the ultimate everyday style. They’re minimalist, versatile and, crucially, possess Miu Miu’s signature irreverent charm. A cult favourite in the making, if you ask me.
