It’s one of the most reinvented Louis Vuitton bags of all time. So what do you do with a house icon when it’s time for another transformation? Flip it inside out, of course! The new Louis Vuitton Neverfull Inside Out is quite literally two bags in one. This latest iteration of the classic is reversible and comes in two dual material options – Monogram canvas and leather or Monogram canvas and textile. With both versions you can flip the bag inside out to reveal the alternate material. Very innovative and very Louis Vuitton.

The release of the Louis Vuitton Neverfull Inside Out is a real full circle moment for me in my fashion career. The classic LV Neverfull was the first big luxury purchase I ever made 14 years ago (!!!) and it was my absolute baby. I used up one of my first paychecks back when I worked as a pharmacist to invest in the bag, it was in the Damier Azur canvas and the medium MM size. When I tell you this bag worked overtime for my wardrobe! Work, going out, travel, I took this bag EVERYWHERE with me and I saw it as such a status symbol and an investment in myself. Almost a decade and a half later and I’m so fortunate to own a beautiful collection of designer bags but the Louis Vuitton Neverfull will always hold a special roomy-tote-sized place in my heart.

So there’s no one more excited than me about the news of a brand new Louis Vuitton Neverfull on the market. I’ve been lucky enough to snap up the Inside Out design in the medium size MM and in Monogram canvas and black grained cowhide leather. It looks so classic and timeless but is an undeniably fun take on a longtime LV favourite of mine. So let’s unpack all the need-to-know details of this latest addition to my bag collection. From the enduring appeal of the slouchy Neverfull silhouette and how this new release differs from the original, to all the colour, material and size options available, plus the best styling inspo. The Neverfull is an undisputed Louis Vuitton icon. Fellow house classics like the Speedy and Alma bags have a long, storied history dating back almost a century but, despite the Neverfull holding a similar level of cult classic status within the LV ranks, it’s actually much younger. Louis Vuitton released the Neverfull in 2007 and its slouchy tote shape designed to easily sling over your shoulder in an act of no-fuss style became an instant hit. Since then, many new colourways and materials have been introduced, plus high-profile collaborations with artists resulting in limited-edition versions of the Neverfull becoming some of the most coveted accessories on the luxury market. 

With a house icon this significant, it’s pretty hard to catch our attention with the release of another new iteration. But Louis Vuitton has worked its magic once again. And this time, the latest version is nothing like anything we’ve seen before from the brand. The Louis Vuitton Neverfull Inside Out is a fully reversible tote with the label’s classic Monogram canvas on one side and a choice of leather or the house’s statement stamp-and-striped textile on the other. It’s such an innovative piece that feels very true to Louis Vuitton’s design DNA that’s centred around functionality and practicality crafted with sophistication.

Aside from there being a whole host of new colour, material and strap options available (we’ll get into this below – don’t worry, I’ve got it all covered), the Neverfull Inside Out differs pretty significantly from the original. The main glaringly obvious difference is that the Neverfull Inside Out is reversible so you’re literally getting two bags in one. It costs more than the original but when you factor in the added wearing options and versatility, I personally think that you get more for your money with the Neverfull Inside Out. 

When it comes to the trim, the textile option features the classic natural cowhide leather trim that’s the same as the original Monogram canvas style. But, if you want something a bit different, the Monogram side of the leather option is trimmed with cowhide leather in the same colour as the reverse. In the black style that I have, this contrasts gorgeously with the classic Monogram print and it’s a nice contemporary update on the more traditional look of the original.

Another significant change is the option of a Bandoulière strap. Bandoulière strap versions of classic bags like the Speedy and Keepall give these styles a huge boost in versatility and practical appeal but this is the first time that a Bandoulière strap version of the Neverfull has been available which, for us LV superfans, is a VERY big deal. But, it’s important to note that the Bandoulière strap only comes with the textile version of the bag, plus the small BB size of the leather style only. These Bandoulière straps are also different to the classic options offered with typical Bandoulière versions of bags. Instead of simple leather or printed canvas, they’re in keeping with the new Inside Out’s design theme – Monogram canvas on one side and the colour of the bag’s interior on the reverse.

What’s so great about the Neverfull Inside Out is that it’s such a new and exciting release that feels completely fresh for LV but it’s kept all the best aspects of the original that we love so much – the spacious slouchy shape, the softly structured boxy base that makes it super practical, the cinch in option to make the bag more or a narrow trapezoid shape. Plus, this cinch works no matter which material you have on the outer side so we’re technically now looking at four bags in one!

Now onto the removable zipped pouch which has become a favourite feature of the Louis Vuitton Neverfull in recent years. Both the BB and MM sizes in the leather option come with a pouch and this is designed to be a statement feature. It’s leather and comes in the house’s classic stamp-and-striped pattern. I’ve been loving attaching mine to the outside of the bag to create a gorgeous contrast, plus it’s also a great clutch to wear on its own. The textile version doesn’t come with a removable pouch however it does have a large interior flat zipped pocket printed with the stamp-and-striped pattern. This is super handy, especially when the bag is worn with the textile material as the exterior.

A newly reinterpreted house classic is a HUGE deal amongst us devout LV fans and this launch sees a whole lot of new colour, material, size and strap options thrown into the mix so I think it’s best to break down every single new Louis Vuitton Neverfull Inside Out bag on offer. In total, there are eight. Let’s take a look …

Versatility has always been at the core of the Neverfull’s design but the Neverfull Inside Out is even more adaptable. The Monogram canvas and black cowhide leather are both super classic and are proving perfectly catered to my autumnal styling. I love how this dual material option has both LV’s signature Monogram print that’s a little more casual, as well as black leather that’s great as a smarter minimalist style, ideal as a work bag.

So far this season, it’s been all about teaming this bag with rich chocolate hues. Think gorgeous leather loafers and trench coats, plus it will also be a great accessory for soft tailoring, shearling outerwear and classic leather pieces.

For years, us LV aficionados have been plagued with the question – canvas or leather. The new Neverfull Inside Out design means we don’t have to choose. For me, having a Neverfull bag that’s both leather and canvas is perfect for my wardrobe and lifestyle. Plus, I think it’s priced really reasonably considering this bag’s versatility. And for those who love the bright interior that’s long been a statement feature of the original Neverfull, the textile version of this bag is a great option for injecting some colour into a super practical and classic design. I also love that the mini BB size is included in this offering to add some variation. The only thing left to think about is which Louis Vuitton Neverfull Inside Out have you got your eye on?
