One Silhouette, More Versions Than I Can Count
There are some brands I naturally gravitate towards when it comes to handbags, and Prada has always been one of them. Over the years, I’ve collected a few styles that I genuinely reach for again and again, and my Prada Route Bag has probably been one of my favourite travel companions recently. Mine is olive green, so after giving it a little break over the warmer months, I’m already looking forward to bringing it back into rotation for autumn.
More recently, the Bonnie joined my collection. Mine is the Medium Printed Linen & Leather version, and I’ve already worn it several times over the summer. What initially drew me to it was obviously this particular combination of white leather and linen, but the more I looked into the Bonnie, the more I realised how versatile the design itself actually is. With four sizes and seemingly endless combinations of leather, suede, linen and colour, the Bonnie can be a completely different bag depending on the version you choose.

The Design
What immediately stood out to me about the Bonnie is how well Prada has balanced structure with practicality. The silhouette is clean and architectural, but it doesn’t feel overly minimal. The front pocket, buckle detailing, side laces and metal hardware give it enough character to make it recognisable without relying on an oversized logo or anything too trend-driven.
I also think its proportions are a big part of what makes the design work. It is structured enough to feel polished but not so rigid that it becomes impractical for everyday life. There are proper handles, a detachable shoulder strap, a secure zip closure and an exterior pocket, all things that sound rather simple but make a big difference when you’re actually using a bag rather than simply admiring it. It feels very Prada to me: considered, slightly utilitarian and elegant at the same time.
Sizes, Materials & Colours
This is probably where the Bonnie becomes particularly interesting. It comes in Mini, Medium, Large and Extra Large, so choosing a size isn’t simply a question of how much you want to carry; each one gives the silhouette a slightly different purpose. For me, the Medium is the sweet spot for everyday use. It has enough presence and space without ever feeling cumbersome. The Extra Large, on the other hand, immediately caught my attention as a travel bag. If you ask me, the combination of that generous size and structured shape makes it such a chic alternative to a traditional travel tote.
Then there are the materials and colours. My printed linen and leather version was part of the summer collection, but the Bonnie itself goes far beyond that. Prada has interpreted the shape in suede, classic leather and combinations of leather and fabric, and the colour selection is equally broad. There are whites, tans, browns and classic black if you want something timeless, alongside richer reds, blues and other seasonal shades. I love this because the same silhouette can feel completely different in white linen, chocolate suede or black leather. Rather than being tied to one season or aesthetic, it really comes down to which Bonnie makes sense for your wardrobe.
How I'm Wearing Mine
My Medium Printed Linen & Leather Bonnie naturally became one of the bags I reached for most during summer. The linen makes this particular version feel relaxed, while the leather details give it enough structure to work beyond very casual holiday outfits. I’ve worn it with linen separates, white dresses, denim, beige and simple black looks, and the neutral combination makes it incredibly easy to style.
What I particularly like is that it fills a completely different role in my wardrobe to my Prada Route. The olive Route feels richer and more autumnal, while this Bonnie is lighter both visually and in the way I style it. And perhaps that’s what I like most about Prada bags in general: even when the designs are practical enough to become bags you genuinely use, they still have enough personality to make you excited about bringing them back into rotation season after season.

The more versions of the Bonnie I see, the less I think of it as one specific bag and the more I see it as a silhouette you can really make your own. The Medium works beautifully as an everyday bag, the larger sizes make a convincing case for travel, and the sheer choice of materials and colours means it can be as classic or as seasonal as you want it to be.
Mine happened to arrive at exactly the right moment for summer, but I can already see why the Bonnie as a design has much more staying power than that.
