The Pale Blue Pieces I Love This Summer

When Summer Turns Blue

One thing I have realised this summer is that I own far more pale blue pieces than I ever thought I did. It was never a colour I consciously decided to add to my wardrobe. In fact, if you had asked me a year ago which pastel I would end up wearing the most, I probably would have said butter yellow or soft pink. Somehow, pale blue completely surprised me… and now I absolutely love it.

I love how it works with my skin tone, especially once I have a bit of a tan, and I love how effortlessly it fits into the rest of my summer wardrobe. White, beige, chocolate brown… all the colours I naturally gravitate towards somehow look even better next to pale blue. Lately, I have also been loving it with little pops of red or pink, whether that’s a bag, a pair of shoes or even a lipstick. It feels fresh, slightly unexpected and somehow very summer.

I think we can all agree that this isn’t a season dominated by neutrals. Colour is definitely having a moment, but what I like about pale blue is that it still feels easy to wear. It adds something to an outfit without ever feeling too much. It is soft, fresh and elegant, and somehow always gives that slightly more polished look without requiring any effort.

How I'm Wearing Pale Blue This Summer

As for how I’ve been wearing it, I keep coming back to the same few pieces. Lightweight dresses, oversized cotton shirts and linen co-ords have definitely been my favourites. I recently bought a beautiful pale blue linen shirt and trousers set from Toteme, and I already know it’s going to be one of those outfits I pack for every summer holiday.

I also love how effortlessly pale blue works with crisp white. I honestly can’t think of a combination that feels more like summer. It instantly makes me think of long lunches by the sea, fresh seafood, sun-kissed skin and those slow holiday afternoons that always seem to last a little longer than they do at home. Maybe that’s why I seem to wear this colour almost exclusively during the summer months- it just feels like it belongs there.
