The white staples I wear every summer without fail
Writing blog posts over the past few weeks has made me realise just how many things I love about summer. The longer days, the energy, linen and silk fabrics, beautiful summer outfits, sun-kissed skin, holidays with friends, glowy make-up, effortless evenings that somehow turn into late nights, and even those beachy waves that always seem to look their best after a day spent in salty water.
So it probably won’t surprise you that I absolutely love white pieces in summer too.
There is something about white clothing that feels incredibly fresh, effortless and elegant this time of year. While trends come and go, and every season brings a new colour or silhouette everyone seems to be wearing, I always find myself reaching for the same white staples. They work whether I’m in the city, travelling, heading to lunch, spending a day by the sea or simply trying to put together an outfit that feels polished without looking overdone.
In many ways, some of my favourite summer outfits begin with a white piece. It creates the perfect foundation and instantly makes everything feel lighter and more refined. Pair it with natural textures, gold jewellery, a woven bag or simple leather sandals, and you have an outfit that never really dates.
When I look back through photos from previous summers, I notice the same pattern every year. The pieces may change slightly, but white always remains a constant. It is one of those rare wardrobe choices that feels equally appropriate in June, July and August, regardless of where I happen to be spending my summer.
White Pieces I Always Have In My Summer Wardrobe
A White Shirt
If I had to choose one piece that comes with me on every single summer trip, it would probably be a white shirt. I wear it over swimwear at the beach, with denim shorts for daytime walks, and with linen trousers for dinners by the sea. It is one of those items that always looks chic without requiring any effort at all.
A White Dress
Whether it is a crisp cotton midi dress, a lightweight linen style or something slightly more romantic for evenings, I always pack at least one when travelling. It is the kind of piece that requires very little styling. A pair of sandals, ballet flats or a woven bag is all I need, which is probably why I reach for it so often throughout the season
A White Tank Top
This is without question one of the most worn items in my wardrobe. During winter, it usually sits underneath jumpers, but in summer it finally gets its moment. I wear white tank tops with linen trousers, denim, skirts and shorts, and they really work with everything. White tank tops are always one of the first things I put into my suitcase.

While these three pieces are the foundation of my summer wardrobe, I am always tempted by beautiful white additions throughout the season. From linen trousers and cotton skirts to lightweight knitwear, summer bags and effortless holiday pieces, these are some of the white finds currently sitting on my wishlist. Some of them, of course, have already found their way into my wardrobe and become pieces I absolutely love wearing year after year.
This summer, I have also been reaching for white footwear more than ever. Whether it is a pair of flip-flops, ballet flats, minimal sandals or white trainers, they seem to work with almost everything in my wardrobe and instantly make an outfit feel lighter and more effortless.
And while white naturally feels perfect for holidays, I am not only wearing it by the beach. It has genuinely become my go-to colour this season. Perhaps it is because I am in my bridal era, I don’t know, but there is something incredibly chic about white pieces right now.
I also love how versatile they are. You can wear white from head to toe for a clean, monochromatic look, or use it as the perfect base for colourful accessories. A white dress paired with red details, for example, always feels fresh and elegant.
With that in mind, here are some of the white pieces I am currently loving.
