I don’t even need to ask if choosing swimwear feels like a whole process for you too, because I already know the answer. For us girls, it’s never just “a bikini”. There’s the one that works best for tanning, the one that feels the most fashion, the one you know photographs beautifully, the one that is actually comfortable enough for a full beach day and somehow also the one that works perfectly with linen trousers when lunch suddenly turns into sunset drinks.
So yes, there is always a reason why we pack at least five.
Over the years, I realised I stopped buying swimwear impulsively. Now I care much more about the fit, the colours, how it works with the rest of my holiday wardrobe and whether I genuinely feel good wearing it. Because somehow the right swimwear sets the tone for the entire trip.
And these are the styles I always keep coming back to.
Minimal Everyday Chic
These are probably the pieces I wear the most. Simple black bikinis, deep brown tones, clean silhouettes, textured fabrics and shapes that never really go out of style. The kind of swimwear that instantly feels chic without trying too hard.
I especially love minimal pieces because they work so well beyond the beach too. A black triangle bikini under an oversized white linen shirt, gold jewellery, slightly wet hair and oversized sunglasses somehow never fails. It always feels effortless in the best possible way. I also think these are the pieces you end up loving for years. Trends come and go, but minimal swimwear always feels elegant, expensive and easy to wear.

Fun Vacation Energy
And then of course… there are the holiday pieces.
The colourful prints, crochet textures, shimmer fabrics and bikinis that immediately make you feel like you are on holiday the second you put them on. I still love these pieces, just in a slightly more elevated way than I maybe did a few years ago. Pucci prints in summer will always have my heart, and I also love a beautiful crochet bikini or subtle shimmer fabric for beach clubs, boats or long summer lunches somewhere by the sea.
These are not necessarily the pieces I wear every single day on holiday, but they are definitely the ones that make everything feel a little bit more fun.

Elegant Timeless Woman Vibe
A really good one-piece swimsuit somehow always feels expensive. Beautiful one-piece with oversized sunglasses, simple jewellery and hair still slightly wet from the sea. Very understated, very timeless and honestly one of my favourite looks during summer.
I love deeper tones here, open backs, asymmetric cuts or subtle details that make the piece feel a little more refined. These are usually the swimsuits I reach for on slower days, long lunches, boat days or moments when I want to feel a bit more polished without looking overly done.
At this point, I think I care less about swimwear trends and more about finding pieces that instantly make me feel good the moment I put them on. The kind you keep packing year after year no matter how many new trends appear.

At this point, I think swimwear has become part of how I imagine a trip before it even happens. The bikini for slow mornings by the sea, the one for long beach days, the slightly more dramatic one for sunset drinks that somehow happen spontaneously. Every piece carries a different version of summer with it.
And honestly, that is probably why I never manage to pack just one or two.
