A few sunglasses thoughts before we start…
If there is one accessory that can completely change a summer outfit, it is definitely sunglasses. Even the simplest look – white tank top, linen trousers, hair up, minimal make-up – instantly feels more polished with the right pair. And honestly, I think most of us have realised by now that sunglasses are never just practical. They are very much part of the outfit.
This summer especially, I noticed myself rotating between a few very specific styles. Some are timeless classics I wear every single year, while others feel a little more trend-driven and playful. I also tried to include a mix of luxury options and more affordable finds, because brands like COS, Massimo Dutti, Mango and H&M have honestly been doing such a good job lately when it comes to accessories.
Black Frames
Black sunglasses will always be one of those forever classics. Whether you prefer something oversized, more square, slightly sharper cat-eye shapes or very clean minimal frames, I genuinely think everyone needs at least one really good pair of black sunglasses in their collection.
They always look elegant, they work with almost every outfit, and they somehow make even very casual summer looks feel more put together. Personally, black cat-eye sunglasses are probably my most worn style overall. I especially love styles from Saint Laurent and Phoebe Philo, but I also found some really chic options on the high street recently, especially at COS and Massimo Dutti.

Aviators
Aviators are one of those styles I come back to every single summer. They feel lighter, a little more relaxed and very easy to wear every day. Most aviator styles also have thinner frames, which gives them a slightly more effortless feel compared to heavier acetate sunglasses.
I love them with linen shirts, simple swimwear, oversized tailoring or even just a very casual daytime outfit. They always add that slightly cool, undone summer energy without trying too hard.

Y2K Frames I’m Actually Wearing
Sport-inspired sunglasses have definitely become part of everyday fashion, and honestly, I love that. They are not necessarily the most elegant style, but they make an outfit feel modern very quickly.
These are the kind of sunglasses I would wear after Pilates with leggings and a top, on holiday during the day, or even for something like tennis or travelling. Miu Miu has a sporty style I wear all the time lately, and I really like balancing those shapes with cleaner, simpler outfits.

The Oversized Pair
These sunglasses are definitely a bold choice, but that is exactly why I love them. If you really want to protect your face from the sun, especially during summer holidays, oversized shield frames are probably one of the best options. Add a hat and you are basically untouchable. I also love styling them with very simple outfits because they instantly add another dimension and somehow make everything feel cooler and more elevated.

90s Vibe
Tiny, narrow 90s sunglasses are still everywhere, and I have to admit… they do look incredibly chic. Are they the most practical sunglasses when it comes to actual sun protection? Probably not. But for styling? Very cool.
They instantly give outfits that slightly minimal, off-duty model feel. These are very much the classic Hailey Bieber type of sunglasses – slim, simple and very easy to throw on with basics. I especially like them for city outfits or evenings during summer.

At the end of the day, sunglasses are one of those accessories that can completely define your personal style. Some people will always prefer timeless black frames, others love something more trend-led or sporty, and honestly, both are great. I think the most important thing is simply finding the shapes you genuinely feel confident wearing, because those always end up becoming your most worn pairs anyway.
