My Summer 2025 Trend Report

New season styles worthy of our attention

If you have a love-hate relationship with summer trends – you’re not alone. On the one hand, it’s summer and we deserve to splurge on some seasonal wardrobe updates worthy of the plans we’ve spent all winter and spring daydreaming about. But the thought of spending our hard-earned money on some quick styling fixes and fleeting trends that we’ll have no use for the minute we feel that dreaded chill return to the air… well, it’s a bleak one.

So, in the spirit of summer trends that we actually want to invest in, here’s my roundup of the styles worthy of our attention. From updates to holiday wardrobe staples and the newly appointed colour of the season, to viral styling hacks and more.

P.S. If you’re looking for more inspiration, I’ve shared a few summer-focused posts where I break down the pieces I’m actually wearing this season – from a full Summer Capsule Wardrobe with all the essentials, to accessories, sandals, and easy summer tops worth checking out.

Make It Masculine

The Spring/Summer 2025 runways were a flurry with doses of masculine-inspired suiting when the designers showed their collections during Fashion Month last year. And the 2025 Met Gala theme – Superfine: Tailoring Black Style with a focus on dandyism – only served to fuel fashion’s suiting obsession further. Think double-breasted blazers and neatly tailored trousers often with pleats to up the smart appeal. Pinstripes are proving another great way to incorporate traditionally masculine tailoring elements into our wardrobes. I also love the cotton shirt and elasticated-waist short combos that I’ve been seeing everywhere lately as a super-casual take on this trend (plus, these co-ords prove great for warmer weather)

Tomato Red

This summer it’s all about adding some colour onto our plates and into our wardrobes. Juicy tomato red is fast emerging as a favourite hue of the season – aided, no doubt, in part to Jonathan Anderson’s viral tomato clutch bag, one of his latest designs for Loewe before heading to Dior. This rich, pigmented shade isn’t for the week. I’ve been loving experimenting adding it to my outfits with accessories. Bright red strappy sandals from Khaite and already established ‘It’ bags like the Miu Miu Wander in this tomato hue all make fun options. In terms of clothing, lightweight matching sets are a cool way to incorporate this colour into your summer looks, especially when it comes to holiday dressing.

Scarves For Styling

Who doesn’t love a good multi-purpose styling hack? Silk scarves are proving this summer’s one-piece-does-all hero product. Wearing as a top, swimsuit cover-up, hair accessory, bag charm, or tying around your waist as a belt. A gorgeous silk scarf can prove a suitcase essential for your holiday and beyond this season. I’ve been loving the concept of styling as a bandana for boat days and some of my other favourite quintessential summer activities.

New-Season Utility Dressing

Utility dressing is one of those forever trends that never really goes out of style. But that’s not to say it doesn’t ever get an update. This season, I’ve been loving seeing some of my trusty go-to utility styles in an olive green update. There are also mini versions of classic shirt dresses that have caught my eye and simple khaki jackets that will last me well into early autumn.

Nightie Dresses

The concept of wearing pyjamas as outerwear has recently made headlines at Men’s Paris Fashion Week so it’s no surprise that us girls want to get in on this inherently comfy bedtime style too. In silk, satin or cotton, often with lace detailing, this simple style is a fun and somewhat whimsical update on summer’s favourite slip dress. And of course, it’s all about how you style it. Pairing with suede ankle boots, a chain belt and a leather jacket feels very 2025’s answer to boho chic. But for something a little dressier, I’d go for wedges and a cute top-handle bag.
