A new Hermès rainbow is on the horizon
It’s that time of year again. A new Hermès rainbow is on the horizon and we need to give this burst of hues the attention it deserves. There are so many facets of the Hermès universe that make this brand in particular seem like a labyrinthine of styles, leathers, and handbag buzzwords. But I’m here to decode and decipher all of the most seemingly complex aspects of Hermès for you guys, and today, it’s time to discuss new-season Hermès colours. I’m going to break down every single new shade (this season there are five), discuss how they fit into the existing Hermès colour palette and, crucially, if any have made it onto my Hermès wishlist.
The five new colours …

Rouge Radieux
Starting off strong with a red. The new Rouge Radieux isn’t just any red, it’s a bright scarlet red that gives the perfect pop of vibrant colour. It’s not orange-toned, nor is it burgundy, instead it’s been described as a true lipstick shade – a red red, if you will. This shade is most similar to Rouge Vif but is a little more pigmented. This collection of new colours for SS25 is pretty playful so I think Hermès’ decision to include a classically bold red is a wise move. I can see this being very popular for Kelly bags (can you imagine a Hermès Kelly Sellier 28 in this shade? I’m already obsessed), plus larger sizes of the Birkin in particular.
You guys know how I love my Birkin Sellier Casaque in the Sellier Rouge and Rouge H colourway that I got last year – it showcases two of my favourite Hermès burgundy shades and is gorgeous. But a bright pop of classic rouge is, admittedly, missing from my Hermès bag collection, so perhaps this new shade should make it onto my wishlist … what do you guys think?

Bleu Tie
This one is kind of like a dusty cobalt blue and I feel that it’s the perfect balance if you want something in between a navy (like Bleu Encre or Bleu Brighton) and an energetically vivid blue like the vibrant (and returning) Bleu Hydra. I can see this being popular on bigger bags (particularly Birkins). It’s an easy muted shade to style everyday. My Hermès collection is so strong in terms of neutrals but it’s lacking in colour so adding some different shades is definitely something I’m interested in. I know a lot of Hermès collectors feel the same and I think that this latest blue shade truly is a great option – it’s the kind of near-neutral that makes embracing colour less daunting.
Vert Mangrove
I actually find Hermès’ offering of greens among the most versatile of the house’s colour options. And the new Vert Mangrove shade serves as even more proof of this. It’s a very (very) dark green with strong grey undertones – upon first glance you’ll likely confuse it with grey. A great option if you want a colour that’s near-neutral but not quite. I know how much I love my Hermès Kelly Cut Clutch in a dark khaki green shiny alligator so it’s safe to say that I’m on board with dark green hues. They have an elegant feel which I love and this suits my Hermès collection so well. I’d love to see this new very dark Vert Mangrove shade on Mini Kellys and Kelly Pochettes the most. But I also think that larger bags could suit this colour too, perhaps a Birkin 40 or even a HAC.

Gris Argenté
Next up is a super fun shade. Gris Argenté is an icy metallic silver. It’s bright with that signature metallic shine that signals that a bag holds a very special place in your collection. Its introduction comes off the back of Hermès releasing its metallic gold Doré shade last year in 2024, but it’s safe to say that metallics being included in the regular leather goods offering is still a very novel concept. The release of Gris Argenté could signal that Hermès plans to back more metallics in the future.

Gris Pantin
Gris Pantin is an interesting addition to this season’s new lineup and it’s growing on me more and more since my first look. A simple stone grey shade, it works great as a neutral. And I personally feel that grey is an underrated neutral that we all need to be showing a little more love – like the kind of love we show to chocolate brown. Gris Pantin has slight blue undertones (sort of similar to Bleu Glacier) but it definitely has a cool grey finish and this differs depending on the leather and which lighting you look at it in. I can see this becoming popular in the Mini Kelly and Picotin, as well as bigger bags thanks to the minimalist appeal of this shade.

And that’s all of the brand new Hermès colours for SS25 wrapped up. This season we saw five new additions to Hermès’ famous colour offering which is two more than last season so us fans and collectors have to take this as a win. I think that the range on offer is very strong. There’s everything from a new classic red (a soon-to-be fan favourite, perhaps?) and dark near-neutral blues and greens, to a fun metallic and sophisticated grey shade that is a lot more complex than meets the eye.
Overall, it’s been a very strong season for the Hermès rainbow. If I could have one wish, I would have loved to have seen a new sunny shade join the lineup for the spring/summer season, like a vivid yellow or burnt orange hue – but, alas, maybe next year. In the meantime, the new Rouge Radieux is definitely making a strong case for a place on my wishlist. Stay tuned for my take on all of the returning Hermès favourites for SS25 coming soon – I’ll be talking all things spring/summer colour trends and Hermès.
