Spring never smelt so good

Spring is officially spring-ing once more and I’m in the mood to talk all things fragrances. This time of year, I like to embrace lighter and brighter scents that channel the sort of whimsical spring aura I love about this season. I like to avoid focusing too heavily on floral scents, and despite the colder months soon becoming a distant memory, there’s no need to avoid amber and woody scent notes altogether. From sweet nutty ingredients to fresh citrusy blends that already have me daydreaming of the warm hazy days and coastal adventures ahead, here are the fragrances I’m loving for spring.

Prada Infusion d’Amande

This Les Infusion from Prada is a second skin fragrance that’s designed to feel like it’s made for you from the very first spritz. I reach for the Prada Infusion d’Amande when I want a sweeter smelling scent that’s not too floral. It’s also got bergamot for a citrusy touch that I love, plus sandalwood base notes for a subtle richness that brings the whole scent together in the best way.

D&G Light Blue

If a fragrance is the way you’re planning on channelling impending dreamy summer days and nights – Dolce&Gabbana’s Light Blue is the one to choose. The romance of an Italian summer in a bottle – it fuses zesty citrus with delicate florals and woody base notes to give the scent a richer quality that’s not too sweet. This D&G option was a favourite of mine last year also, and I love that it comes in his and hers, great to gift to yourself or a partner.

Valentino Punk Romantic

For something warming and spicy but still fresh and sweet enough for spring, I love Valentino’s Punk Romantic scent. Vanilla, black pepper and olivewood accord give it a unique woody quality that’s just what I want in a fragrance for those spring days that still feel far too chilly. It’s a scent with a little bit of edge. Plus, the bottle is decorated with Valentino’s signature studs – a very on-brand touch I welcome.

Miss Dior

I’ve been a fan of the Miss Dior fragrance for what feels like forever. With rose, fresh lily and peony combining to create a floral scent that’s honeyed and peppery, this is a great option if you’re looking for a soft flowery spring fragrance. But the florals aren’t overwhelming so it’s one to cherish year round, too. This scent is kind of like the fragrance equivalent of a trench coat acting as a light, transitional layer.

Tom Ford Soleil Blanc

Citrusy bergamot, nutty coco de mer and pistachio, plus gently intoxicating Ylang Ylang flower from the Comoros Island combine to create Tom Ford’s Soleil Blanc scent. Inspired by the allure of jetting off to spend your summer on a private island (the longing for which I think we can all relate to), it’s the perfect pre-summer fragrance to wear while you await days of sunshine ahead. It’s one I’ve been looking forward to spritzing in anticipation of holiday planning … roll on summer, I say.

Mizensir Genève Celebes Wood

Although I love wearing Mizensir Genève’s Celebes Wood fragrance for spring, it rejects many of the traditional qualities that we associate with scents of this season. Made with cinnamon, tonka bean and vanilla cardamom, it balances a sweetness with woody notes and is designed to take whoever spritzes it on a make-believe journey through the Indonesian island of Celebes – I love when fragrances are made with a little magic in mind. The result is a masterfully intense scent that gets stronger the longer you wear it.
