And where to shop them …

A rebellious spirit is infectious, and there was plenty of it to go around this season at London Fashion Week. For Autumn/Winter 2025, the British capital proved packed full of its usual unabashed irreverence and romance, with a host of wildly talented established and emerging designers sharing the stage for the fashion hotspot’s style parade. It was a smaller schedule this year but that did nothing to dampen anyone’s spirits. The trends focused on being fun and the kinds of clothes we love to wear (always a bonus) so there was certainly no shortage of style inspiration coming off the runways.

From babydoll dressing and an homage to the punk cool kids responsible for London’s trendy reputation, to a slew of established styles that found themselves reborn. It’s time to break down the seven key LFW trends to know (and shop) now.

Babydoll Dressing

High fashion’s embrace of unapologetic femininity in recent years has proved one of my favourite style outcomes from the runways. And for AW25, LFW seemed to double down on this spectacularly fun and playful aesthetic. We saw an excess of bows at Richard Quinn, plus tiered tulle ruffles, sweetheart necklines and gloves extending above the elbow – all wonderfully whimsical ways to incorporate the babydoll trend into our wardrobes in an easy way. Over at 16Arlington, delightful minis graced the runway and I’m already looking forward to wearing them with equally delightful kitten heels this spring.

Longer Bubble Hems

Bubble hems were undoubtedly one of the trends that defined 2024. But now it looks like this fashion phenomenon is back … and it’s gained a little length. At 16Arlington and S.S. Daley, knee and midi length bubble hems sashayed down the runway to the delight of onlookers. They appeared in all-black ensembles looking super chic and were also dressed down with country-esque jackets and simple crew-neck tops – proving once again that midi skirts are amongst the most versatile styles you can wear.

Punk Attitude

If we ever needed any reminder that London is the home of the punk movement, this was it. Harris Reed’s spiked structures and Sinéad O’Dwyer’s black leather capes, buckled mini skirts and lace-up trousers all paid homage to London’s pack of cool kids that played an integral role in making the city the fashion hotspot it is today. Plus, I love how it’s so easy to recreate – build up your leather wardrobe, chunky boots and voilà!

‘80s Glamour

The glamour of ‘80s opulence isn’t lost on any of us fashion folk. So treating us all to runways packed with it was a smart idea. We’re talking cinched waists, feathers, bold indigo and scarlet red, padded shoulders and flamboyant decoration. We saw a healthy dose of mini and all-black styles channelling this trend to make it feel more wearable, too.

More Black & White Dressing?!?

If you’re thinking – are we not done with this trend already?!? … you’re not alone. Black and white seemed to be everywhere last season, after exploding onto the fashion scene the year prior thanks to the Karl Lagerfeld Met Gala theme. And LFW has proved that it’s still going strong for AW25. The great thing about a truly classic shade pairing is that it will never go out of style. The all-black offerings at 16Arlington proved chic and elegant in that effortless kind of way that we all long for – plus a splattering of white and black pairings wowed to equal effect. But it was Richard Quinn’s black and white evening gowns complete with floral details that really stole the limelight.

Dropped Waists

Dropped waists were another popular style that returned to the London runways. Part of flashy gowns at Richard Quinn and figure-skimming numbers at 16Arlington, they, unsurprisingly, went down a treat. Plus, the style is still a favourite of both high-street and high-end designers, including COS, Toteme, Revolve and more.

Sculptural Masterpieces

London fashion, much like the city itself, is known for its theatrical opulence and avant garde aesthetic. So, of course, we need to finish this roundup by giving credit to the eye-catching sculptural masterpieces on offer. Harris Reed wowed with looks accented by cage-like structures, plus poofy ball gowns and statement straps that stood upright, extending way past the shoulders. It reminded us all of the city’s famed love for the dramatic, show-stopping pieces that offer up some much-welcomed fun.
