It’s time for a handbag roundup
It’s been a big year for bags. I’m not just referring to my usual penchant for roomy styles, but also smaller designs that are perfect for everyday carry, too. An increasing number of my compact favourites have earned a spot on my most-worn list this year. There’s been plenty of new additions to my collection, plus a lot of love for my long-cherished favourites – because what better feeling is there for any bag lover than showing the styles we love the most some TLC? From vintage Hermès designs in the colour of the year to statement clutches and the most coveted new ‘It’ bags. Let’s get started!
Hermès Kelly 28 in Rouge H
My Hermès Kelly 28 in Rouge H is one of my all-time favourite and most worn bags so of course it’s earned a spot on this list for 2024. It’s one of the larger Hermès Kelly bags I own (you guys know how I’m obsessed with my Mini Kellys) so I always find myself reaching for it when I want to carry a Kelly but also a bag that can hold a little more. And it’s in the GORGEOUS burgundy Rouge H shade that’s become the ‘It’ colour of 2024.

The Row Margaux 12
By now a well-established icon of the handbag world, The Row has had the kind of success with its spacious and slouchy Margaux tote that brands dream of when launching a new bag design. As much as I love the larger versions of this bag, I’ve been reaching for the Margaux 12 (the number refers to the width in inches) a lot lately.

Bottega Veneta Andiamo Clutch
Clutch bags have enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance this year and I’m so here for it. Bottega Veneta’s Andiamo version is among the best. You can of course expect the label’s impeccable Italian craftsmanship and the gorgeous artisanal flair that comes with its signature Intrecciato Weave, but this bag has some surprises, too. Its elongated rectangular shape means it holds a lot more than you’d typically expect from a clutch and this design also gives it a statement feel that’s great for adding a bold finish to outfits.

Hermès Birkin Rock
I’m obsessed with all of the Hermès bags in my collection, but when I want to carry something truly statement and unique, I pick up my Rock. And no, it’s not a ring! This Rock is of the Birkin variety. I have wanted this bag since I first laid eyes on it coming down the runway. I just love the zip and flap pocket details at the front which give the design such a cool edge. Plus, I have it in the 25 which is my most used Birkin size so it’s super functional for my lifestyle.

Savette Symmetry
The Savette brand has been my favourite lessons in minimalist style this year. And the Symmetry bag is one of the brand’s most ingeniously simple designs. This top-handle pouch has been an easy go-to for me. Super classic and polished, it goes great with softly tailored looks and evening outfits.

Constance Grey 24 in Graphite
Joining the Birkin and Kelly to complete the Hermès Holy Trinity is the Constance. With the ability to easily sling this bag over my shoulder or wear crossbody, how could I not love the sheer practicality of the Hermès Constance. The 24 is the perfect size for me. It’s still a compact bag but is noticeably more roomy inside than the itty-bitty mini and micro versions. And this gorgeous deep graphite shade makes it just … chef’s kiss.

Alaïa Le Teckel
Undisputedly a standout ‘It’ bag of the year, the Alaïa Le Teckel is an accessory for cool girls, no doubt about it. First landing on the scene for Spring/Summer 2024, the Le Teckel has pioneered the retro-inspired slim bag silhouette, and it’s only growing in popularity. I absolutely ADORE this as an evening bag, it’s super easy to style and fits more than you’d expect.

Miu Miu Arcadie Matelassé Bag
Miu Miu has had one hell of a year! From acing celeb style to capitalising on fashion’s tenniscore phenomenon, Prada’s little sister seems to be on fire and literally no one is eager to snuff out the flames. One of the most popular Miu Miu items this year according to fashion data whizzes (and, of course, my wardrobe) is the Arcadie bag. I love mine in the matelassé leather that’s made using a weaving technique for a unique textured finish. I think it adds a little something extra to this new Miu Miu classic.
