January blues begone!

New year, new … you guys get the picture. It’s the same old story we tell ourselves each January. We all want to feel healthier, more active, energised and organised at the start of another trip around the sun. But instead of making sweeping declarations and setting myself wholly unrealistic goals that I’m destined to fall short of, in 2025, I’m committing to making lasting changes for an overall healthier and happier lifestyle. From investing in my continued love of Reformer Pilates (my current favourite form of self-care) to finding products that help me sleep better and indulging in the little luxuries that make me happy. Here’s to becoming the best version of ourselves this January!

Health

One thing I’ve really begun to understand on my journey to becoming healthier is that it’s about balance instead of strict rules and restrictions. Tweaking parts of my normal everyday routine is one of the easiest ways to incorporate healthy habits that I actually enjoy and will stick to. I’ve made a challenge for myself to avoid refined sugar until my birthday in March. It’s tough, especially since I love sweets, but every time I stick to it, I feel more productive, more energized, and I sleep better. I would love to continue this throughout the year, but for now, I’ve decided to keep it off for the beginning of the year.

Things like opting for a homemade green juice in the morning before coffee. I also really enjoy drinking tea, and it’s part of my daily routine, either during the day or before bedtime. And, of course, let’s not forget about lots (and lots) of water … in a Stanley cup, of course.

Fitness

Equally as important is my commitment to getting myself moving this January. By now you all know that I’m a true Reformer Pilates convert (here’s how I started my current favorite form of self-care). It’s exercise and self-care rolled into one so I’m a certified devotee. It gets me moving, strengthens my body and calms me – who knew exercising could be so relaxing?! This January, I’m focusing on investing in all the right gear, including matching sporty leggings and tops I’m excited to wear while working out. If you enjoy working out at home, weights and a workout mat are great options to increase the intensity of your workouts and build strength.

Self-Care & Relaxation

Enduring the post holiday season slump and keeping myself motivated to achieve my New Year’s resolutions requires a little self-care. From face masks and bath salts to my favourite Diptyque candles that make my space feel tranquil. I’ve also been loving the HigherDOSE Red Light Face Mask – I use it whenever I take extra time for myself and relaxation, and it’s become an essential part of my self-care routine. The craziness of fashion month is just around the corner, and moments like these will be rare. But when I finally get a day off after it all, my reset day will probably look something like this.

Loungewear

Now onto one of my favourite topics no matter the month – loungewear. January is the perfect time to invest in some new picks. To me, the notion that we should save luxury clothing for showing off outside the house is a HUGE fashion misconception. Carrie Bradshaw claims to like her money where she can see it – hanging in her closet. I concur, but I also love seeing mine lounging on my sofa, too. From Loro Piana cashmere sets to matching hoodie and track pant co-ords from The Row, loungewear is the ultimate luxury investment.

I especially love wearing these pieces when I travel – they’re the perfect combination of comfort and style, making them my go-to for any trip.

Sleep

Whoever said your day starts with your sleep the night before was very wise. A good nighttime routine is key, complete with my favourite skincare and relaxation rituals. But when it comes to getting some quality shut-eye, I find it’s the simple things that make the biggest difference. Silk pillowcases, eye masks and scrunchies make me feel like I’m in a haven of pure comfort (plus, they add a little luxury to bedtime and are great for my hair). Of course, a comfortable nightdress or pajama is a must!
