‘Tis the season for long coat lovestom
From the minute the weather chills and autumn/winter dressing becomes acceptable – expect to find me in a long coat. A final layer to my look that effortlessly cascades towards the floor and instantly gives any outfit an elevated feel, long coats are a must in my cold-weather wardrobe. So owning a carefully curated selection is a must for me. I like my offering to cover all the bases.
Think cosy fur and shearling options (or faux alternatives), tailored styles for when I want to look a little smarter, traditional trench designs, plus statement leather options and pieces in this season’s colour of the moment. Let’s get into my collection, and my top recommendations to add to your shopping basket.

Fur & Shearling
The ultimate cosy addition to outfits, any faux or shearling coat has an instantly statement feel but a longline version elevates this effect. Add your favorite tote (for me it’s a Birkin, of course) and you’re ready to brave the cold in the most decadent way possible. My top picks are from Toteme and Saint Laurent for a super high-end feel, plus there are some great affordable options from the likes of Abercrombie & Fitch.

Trench
Classic and an essential in my selection of long coats, you can never go wrong with a traditional trench. Perfect for transitional dressing during that tricky in-between weather, my trench coats are super versatile. A classic camel-hued option goes great with earthy tones that are always super easy to style, but it’s also nice to switch things up and go for a simple black or darker brown option. I love styles from Burberry that feel super classic, plus Khaite and COS for something a little more affordable.

Tailored
A tailored long coat is the easiest way to make any look feel chic. With baggy jeans, trainers, an oversized tote bag and a cap, or tailored trousers and loafers, this kind of tailored style is a lot more versatile than I first thought. I love opting for a double-breasted design with prominent padded shoulders to create a bold silhouette that’s also super wearable. It makes such a great investment piece, too.

Leather
A leather long coat is always super fun to style. I love dressing this kind of design up with tailored trousers and heels but it also makes a nice final layer to casual looks featuring jeans and trainers. A belt and shearling touches makes a long leather option feel super special. I’m a fan of designs from Magda Butrym and Mango.

Chocolate Brown
And now let’s show some love to THE colour of the season – chocolate brown. Long coats in this delicious-looking shade just work. My favourite option is my trusty COS number but there’s also some great pieces from The Frankie Shop, Mango and Toteme. And to play with texture, I vote opting for a suede design in this hue.
