Introducing your wet weather wardrobe
Rainy showers can mean a lot of things. A chance to try out your new designer umbrella (a very practical purchase, I don’t care what anyone says), the sudden urge to read a good book (or scroll on TikTok) as you look out of the window. Or, simply the need to make trips venturing outside quick and efficient. But rainy showers don’t have to mean we skimp out on style. Here’s my guide to rainy day dressing, from designer wellies and classic trench coats to waterproof jackets and layering knitwear so you can go on looking your best even in the most dreaded of downpours.

Up first, let’s keep things simple with a look that channels relaxed weekends spent in the countryside. Think classic jeans and a cosy knit, layered with a collared canvas or waxed jacket and Hunter wellies, of course. Traditional and shower-proof.

Now for something a little more elevated. I’m thinking a rainy day in the city – for work or just some daytime fun come the weekend. A Burberry trench coat is a must, go traditional or switch things up with black or leather options with contrasting check details. Add some designer wellies (I love the black Chanel ones with the white CC logo for a fun novelty touch), plus a practical tote (I vote chocolate brown this season).

If you’re going super casual, embrace comfort with simple skin-tight black leggings, snuggly knitwear (opt for pure-cashmere for a little touch of luxury) and a quilted jacket. Sturdy Chelsea ankle boots are the perfect finish to this look – I recommend a quality pair like Bottega Veneta’s Lug boots.
