There's an art to getting cosy
The start of November means knitwear season has well and truly arrived. We all know that cosy knits for chilly months always make a wise investment, eternally versatile year after year. But where do you find the best ones? I’ve put together a list of my trusty go-to brands for winter knits. From investment buys in the form of pure-cashmere pieces by Khaite and The Row, to affordable favourites you’ll always find me in from COS, Reformation and AllSaints. I’ve never been more excited to shop practical, cosy designs!
COS
Everyone knows COS is my go-to for elevated pieces at an affordable price. This brands is all about perfecting basics. Minimalist designs are a COS specialty and this goes for knitwear, too. Boxy silhouettes, collared options that feel a little smarter and turtlenecks that always seem to envelope me in warmth are all on my shopping list this season. I’ve also got my eye on some chocolatey brown styles that feel very on trend.
The Row
When I’m looking to spend a little more and make an investment, I’m a fan of The Row. It’s been almost twenty years since this cult luxury label was founded and now its reputation as a quiet luxury favourite is well established. So when it comes to beautiful, quality knitwear, I’m a devoted shopper. I really love how The Row has mastered both simple classic knits (wool turtlenecks and cashmere jumpers with chunky ribbed trims that are staples in my collection), plus contemporary design details like asymmetrical hems, cropped options and contrasting sleeves.
Khaite
Khaite knits are BEAUTIFUL. From autumn onwards, you’ll rarely see me in anything but a Khaite cardigan. My favourite from the brand is the Scarlet cardigan – cropped with wide sleeves for a super-feminine silhouette, with a deep V-neckline and traditional patch pockets. It’s one of the more versatile knits I own and I love wearing it over a simple tank so it’s perfect for layering and transitional styling. There’s also classic Breton stripe options that are great for giving cold-weather looks a bold finish.
Reformation
I’m a firm believer that Reformation does the softest knits out there. The brand’s classic cashmere pieces are my favourites, and they’re more of an affordable price point as far as cashmere knitwear goes. I’ve put together a selection of simple pieces, plus I love the knitted tank and slim-fit sweaters available because they’re so easy to layer.
AllSaints
I’ve been a huge AllSaints fiend for years and it’s always one of my trusty brands for knitwear buys year after year. This season I’m loving the baggy relaxed-fit styles (I find roll-neck and V-neck options the most versatile). There’s also exposed seam design features and asymmetric details to update the classics. And if you’re looking to invest in a style that will serve you well for chilly early spring days, I love the merino wool knitted T-shirt.
LilySilk
LilySilk has become one of my newest favourites for knitwear. The brand is known for its silk but its knitwear is fast becoming the star of the production. The cashmere options always feel super premium and the silk-cashmere blends are DIVINE, they feel light and slinky and are great with soft tailoring for smart workwear looks.
Max Mara
When I want knitwear that doesn’t always look like knitwear, I look to Max Mara. My look for the label’s recent Spring/Summer 2025 show in Milan was a knitted two-piece that looked like a gorgeous smart tailored set but with the comfort of a classic cosy knit. Belted cardigans are perfect as a lighter outwear option, and there are ribbed slim-fit knitted tops with tie-neck details and keyhole cutouts, plus wool dresses. My favourite this season is scattered with statement chunky cable-knit stitches in a cool circular design.
