AND HOW TO STYLE THEM ...
You guys have asked and I am answering! Let’s discuss the best boots to shop now. Autumn is the perfect time to think about investing in new boots for the chilly season ahead because you can buy now and wear well into the new year. Intrigue about the hottest pairs to buy is expected but it feels like this season there are more new cult-worthy styles and trends to lust after than ever. From continued love for established aesthetics like cowboy-core, to the latest moto boot trend, elevated suede options and classic designs. Here are all the styles to consider before you buy.
Moto
The moto boot trend is one of the newest and, in my opinion, most exciting on this list. A huge part of its success is that it feels like a natural evolution from the enduringly popular biker boot style. The simple design of moto boots is characterised by the circular metal ring at the side, along with studded details. Styles that lean into the hardware-heavy look offer added edge (my favs are from Miu Miu) but I also love the ones that keep it pretty simple. In classic black or faded looking brown leather for a more vintage-inspired distressed effect. Suede is also a fun take on this trend.

Cowboy
At first, the concept of cowboy boots feels pretty novelty but the style is proving to be a fun and versatile boot option for autumn. During summer, styling cowboy boots was all about embracing denim and boho jewellery for festivals and beyond. But wearing cowboy boots for autumn feels a little more low-key, but still with plenty of western edge. Think bomber jackets, oversized blazers and trench coats. I love the more minimalist iterations in simple black or brown leather with a point-toe shape (Etro has a gorgeous pair that are new this season), plus styles that are cropped at the ankle. Suede and metal cap-toe details lend designs a western-inspired feel while still feeling super versatile.
For something a little more statement, Paris Texas has my vote. I guess the clue is in the name as to why this brand makes the best fun cowboy boots. The colourblock and croc-effect designs are some of my favourites.

Riding
Born out of practicality and ease, riding boots are one of my absolute favourite boot styles. Of course, my top picks are from brands with equestrian roots like Gucci and Hermès (my latest obsession are the Hermès Riding boots in suede, they’re the stuff dreamy autumnal looks are made of). But Cos plus & Other Stories offer great high-street alternatives that stick to the super traditional silhouette that’s made riding boots so popular. In terms of styling, they’re great with jeans, smart trousers or even long midi skirts if you want to look super elevated but don’t want your toes to freeze! Plus, I loved wearing Gucci’s shiny burgundy leather version with tailored shorts and a jacket to the brand’s show during Milan Fashion Week.

Biker
An undisputed classic, biker boots are a great investment for any footwear collection. They’re definitely one of the more casual options in this shopping guide so it’s great to embrace pared-back style when sporting a pair. Denim is always a great idea and of course you can never go wrong pairing your biker boots with a classic leather jacket. To soften the look, try styling with a midi skirt – bonus points if it’s a lighter colour as this creates a nice contrast that feels super contemporary.

Dressy
The power of a good pair of dressy boots is hard to beat. With the elevated and statement look of heels but the comfort and cold-weather-proofing of handy boots, a pair of these is a must for autumn and winter. A stiletto version cropped at the ankle, a point-toe shape with a kitten heel or thigh-high for something that feels a little more daring. My go-to high-end options are Chloé, Saint Laurent, Victoria Beckham and Toteme, and at a high-street price point, I vote & Other Stories, Cos and Mango.
