HELLO NEW YORK!
Everyone’s busy celebrating the start of the New Year on January 1st with fireworks and champagne. But us fashion set don’t mark a new passage of the Earth travelling around the Sun until September and the start of Fashion Month. And each new season begins with New York. Everyone knows the Big Apple has Big Fashion Energy, and of course this means huge business for brands both American and international. So naturally there’s a certain kind of buzz in the air at NYFW that’s unlike anywhere else.
To kick the season off with wow factor, I was keen to be bold with my looks, embodying an attitude that’s as unique as the city itself. From sculptured metal underwire details and chunky bangle jewellery to a full-length denim trench coat and oversized football tee with a bubble hem, my outfits this NYFW Spring/Summer 2025 were a fun way to embark on this bi-annual style extravaganza. Read and shop the breakdown!
AREA
Hailing from downtown New York, Area is about as Big Apple as any brand can get. For Area’s 10th anniversary show, I wanted to embody the brand’s downtown New York energy. It had to be the kind of look I could effortlessly hail a cab in, and turn heads while doing so. My answer? An oversized burgundy blazer, cropped black bandeau top featuring ripped cutouts and light-wash jeans detailed with jewel-embellished thigh cutouts. To finish, my black Bottega Veneta Andiamo Clutch, high heel black open-toe mules and statement oversized aviator-style sunglasses, of course.

Grace Ling
Next up is Grace Ling – aka my new obsession. This look turned out to probably be my favourite of the whole week. It was all about creating a daring statement that still felt very cosmopolitan so we went for a risqué black bralette option with statement sculptured metal underwire details and matching chunky silver bangles and necklace. This was layered over a cropped black blazer and midi skirt with a thigh-high split.

Nanushka
What I love about Hungarian label Nanushka is the ease with which it creates simplistic practicality through clothing. For my NYFW look this season, it was all about understated chicness. I wore a muted lime green long-sleeve maxi dress with a twist detail at the front, plus chunky silver bangles and a necklace. Put together, the look reminded me of Tom Ford era Gucci – very sleek and an ode to this hotspot’s reputation for style.

Khaite
I’m in my bridal era (literally) so of course I was excited to wear a white dress for the Khaite show. Midi length with cap sleeves and delicate pleating that cinched in at the waist for a super-feminine and elegant silhouette. It had a sheer top layer cut to a high neck but underneath a plunging V-neck with simple spaghetti straps was exposed. We finished with strappy heels, a snakeskin bag for a pop of contrast and a low ponytail with a simple glam look to emphasise what Khaite does best – minimalist elegance.

Carolina Herrera
My look for the Carolina Herrera show had New York’s Big City Energy more than matched. I loved the gorgeous black high-waisted wide-leg trousers (a wise wardrobe investment I can’t recommend enough), but the real star of the outfit was the white scoop-neck blouse with soft gathers across the front and EXTREME puff sleeves that seemed to make my arms tower over the rest of my body. The result? A truly bold silhouette. And I accessorised with chunky gold dual-hoop drop earrings, cat eye sunglasses and a red top-handle bag for a pop of colour.

Off-White
The stylish intersection between streetwear and high fashion has always been at the heart of Off-White so for my show look I wanted something statement with a sporty edge. And a longline denim trench coat worn over a super mini sports jersey dress (complete with a bubble hem) did the trick. I wore my hair slicked-back and added blue wide-rimmed square sunglasses, plus a gorgeous pair of white mules with flared block heels for another bold statement to finish.

Michael Kors
Michael Kors is a gem of the NYFW schedule so I thought it only fitting that I pair my look for the show with another Big Apple staple – the New York slice. My dress was actually a look from last year’s SS24 show. I loved it on the runway so, of course, it was a dream to wear for this year’s event. The waist was cut out and detailed with circular metal hoops, and the dress had a subtle shine that made it glisten in the light.

Running Around NYC in Jimmy Choo
If there’s one skill that comes in useful during Fashion Week, it’s being able to run around a city in stilettos. So this season, I was a pro at dashing around in Jimmy Choo’s Scarlett Ankle Boots, new for Autumn 2024 with a thin drop heel, sharp point toe and lace-up front, plus my gorgeous Jimmy Choo Cinch M bag slung over my shoulder. This pairing proved ideal for accessorising the classic white shirt and jeans combo that any stylish urbanite lives in, myself included.

And that’s another NYFW completed. I’ve loved the bold silhouettes, statement accessories and fun design features that really encapsulate the unique spirit of New York fashion. Next stop – London. I’ll see you there!
