And Where To Shop Them ...
The spirit at Copenhagen Fashion Week is unlike any other. Against a backdrop of vibrantly coloured houses, scatterings of dreamy floral blossoms and, of course, exquisitely-clad street style aficionados, a whole host of both established and up-and-coming designers from Denmark and elsewhere show their collections. So it’s no surprise that the city’s most stylish event has come to be widely regarded as the fifth Fashion Week by industry insiders. And for Spring/Summer 2025, it did not disappoint.
With a focus on developing popular trends while channelling the oh so covetable Scandi girl aesthetic, Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25 saw models and showgoers alike dressed in current fashion phenomenons. Looks also channelled hallmarks of vintage style – think ‘90s minimalism and Y2K’s polarising double denim obsession. From the runways to my favourite street style spots, let’s delve into the trends I’m loving fresh from the Danish capital.
Sheer Dressing
This trend has had some serious style credentials for a while now. It popped up everywhere on the Cruise 2025 runways from Gucci to Louis Vuitton and has been an enduring staple amongst celebrities, too. At the Copenhagen shows, we saw a move on from what’s been dubbed the “naked dressing phenomenon”, with designers opting for sheer tailoring that nods to ever-popular ‘90s minimalism. A gorgeous powder blue blazer and trousers combo and a sheer shirt and A-line maxi skirt duo were amongst the standout styles, presenting an innovative new take on the popular linen summer suit as a warm-weather tailoring option. Also popular both on and off the runway were sheer and lace details, often with delicate floral embroideries (my favourites were from Rotate).

Bubble Hems
One of the biggest revival trends of the year so far, bubble hems are an easy way to make a statement. At Copenhagen Fashion Week SS25, the approach to them was a little softer but still with plenty of wow factor. Think dropped waists falling to pouffy knee and midi length bubble hems or detailed with bubble-style peplums at the hips. Maxi variations of bubble skirts and dresses were popular amongst the city’s street style set. And there were bubble tops and off-the-shoulder sleeves too that felt super light and flouncy.

Asymmetrical Draping
Elegant and ethereal, a slew of asymmetrically draped styles seemed to almost float down the runways and streets of Copenhagen this season. From statement skirts and strapless longline tops that billowed behind models as they walked, to light shawls draped across the front of trench coats that will prove perfect for transitional dressing.

Double Denim
As a staple of Y2K fashion, double denim gained a reputation for its controversial and garishly bold appeal and it’s had a slew of revivals since. But this season at Copenhagen Fashion Week, it’s a little softer with an emphasis on casual everyday styling, plus plenty of contemporary edge. Take Irish newcomer Sinéad O’Dwyer’s offering of fitted indigo denim bodice tops, tapered-waist jackets and pleated mini skirts all with hanging buckle details, plus shirts and culottes. Another favourite of mine? Skall Studio’s light-wash denim jacket and slouchy relaxed-fit jeans combo worn with a contrast belt at the waist (a great styling tip for rocking double denim in a fresh way).

Shorts That Aren’t Short

Extending the hem of shorts to make them longer has been popular for a while now. At Copenhagen for SS25, Bermuda variations and styles ending on or just below the knee were spotted at Skall Studio and more. Different from the micro shorts trend that scored big in the Cruise 2025 collections, longer styles offering more coverage are ideal for transitional dressing, while tailored versions are a great way to introduce soft tailoring into your wardrobe. The trend proved popular in the form of jorts amongst the street style set, too.

Scandi-Style Minimalism Reimagined
It wouldn’t be Copenhagen Fashion Week without the necessary dose of Scandi-inspired minimalism and this season did not disappoint. Longline tunic-style tanks with tailored trousers and pleated midi skirts presented a clean and fresh take on relaxed silhouettes. At Forza Collective, simple tank and skirt sets and dresses softly nipped in at the waist championed the beauty of uncomplicated shapes, appearing in vibrant powder blue and yellow hues for an innovative update on the traditional minimalist colour palette. And for fashion insiders travelling to and from the shows, it was all about the winning oversized blazer and maxi combo.

No Fuss Flats

Flats are having a renaissance. And everyone, including the trendsetters walking the streets of Copenhagen, knows it. There was continued love for ballerinas, particularly of the mesh variation, as well as slingbacks and Mary Janes. Metallic iterations proved a fun update on simple flats, too. But if there was one shoe that had everyone talking, Havaianas took the crown. Hailed as the unlikely breakout star of Copenhagen Fashion Week, this heritage footwear brand beloved for its simple flip flops managed to capture effortless Scandi cool girl style like no other. Great for those of us who love easy footwear, and not just at the beach.
