May Monthly Favourites

It’s time to wrap up!

May, that delightful time when spring has officially sprung and summer is just around the corner. This month has been a BUSY one for me. So little loves of mine that I indulge myself with have meant that much more, helping me to better unwind, make styling simple and focus on the things that bring me joy.

In this post, I want to share with you all my May Monthly Favourites. From wardrobe must-haves that make getting dressed a breeze and shoe trends I’m obsessed with, to my hero makeup products I won’t travel without and the buys that help make my space a home. Let’s go!

Gucci’s Rosso Ancora Colour

First released as part of Sabato De Sarno’s debut Spring/Summer 2024 collection for Gucci, the Rosso Ancora shade has made a big impression recently. It’s been lauded as the latest ‘It’ colour by British Vogue and I concur. A rich burgundy red that, in my opinion, looks good with everything, this new hue is quickly becoming a go-to part of my style and I’ve been loving it for May especially. Tying in nicely with the ‘pop of red’ trend that’s been everywhere lately, Rosso Ancora debunks the notion that burgundy is for autumnal seasons only.

I adored wearing it as part of my look to the recent Gucci Cruise 2025 show in London (read my review and all about my outfit details now if you haven’t already). A Gucci short patent leather trench coat, Jackie Notte Mini bag, Signoria slingback pumps and statement square-frame sunglasses all in the shade to channel the label’s trademark sleek sophistication. And other brands are embracing the colour too. Whether it’s Miu Miu’s pointy toe kitten heels or my trusty Hermès Kelly, this rich burgundy shade isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.

Mesh Ballet Flats

It seems like the fashion world has been infatuated with the ballet flats phenomenon since the style first re-emerged on the Spring/Summer 2021 runways. With no signs of slowing down, the trend has instead expanded to include bejewelled and buckled variations, as well as designs featuring a traditional Mary Jane strap across the front. My current favourite iteration of ballet flats are the mesh kind that offer an edgy update on the timeless design. I’ve been loving styling them with simple jeans and maxi dresses. My recommendations? Alaïa, Miu Miu, KHAITE, and high street options from COS and Mango.

Oversized Blazers

This may seem like an obvious one but you should never underestimate the power of an oversized blazer, especially when it comes to transitional dressing during spring. When it’s not quite warm enough to leave the house without a jacket but you’ve long parted with your winter coat, an oversized blazer makes the perfect layer. Classic and simple with the ability to make any look feel a little smarter. An oversized blazer is my (not so secret) styling weapon this time of year. My favourites include styles from The Row, KHAITE, BETTTER, MARCÉLA and Mango.

Prada Hyper Matte Nudes lipstick Shade P159 Nudo

Who doesn’t love a nude lipstick? Prada’s Hyper Matte Nudes option in the shade P159 Nudo has been an easy winner for me recently. A rich nude with plenty of pigment, it has jojoba oil to help nourish your lips and is transfer-resistant so it lasts all day. It’s been an easy everyday pick I’ve been reaching for and it’s refillable, too.

Hermès Chypre Sandals

Hermès sandals and spring/summer go hand in hand. While the Oran design is an undisputed cult favourite, this month I’ve been loving my new Chypre style. A little chunkier with a thick adjustable strap to channel the grandad sandals trend, they have anatomical rubber soles that are super comfortable, complete with the unmistakable H insignia across the front. I got mine in exotic lizard leather.

Dior Forever Glow Maximizer Liquid Highlighter

I trusted this Dior Beauty favourite to give me some glow on the red carpet at Cannes Film Festival so it’s definitely up to the challenge of giving you a nice shimmer for day-to-day dressing too! It’s my easy answer to dewy skin with a warm glow – perfect for spring and summer days when you want a subtle shine.
