It’s a partnership set to heat up the season

Don’t you just love it when a collection speaks to you on a personal level, seeming to serve you with exactly what you want on a silver platter. Well, in this case, that silver platter is the new Victoria Beckham x Mango collaboration, offering up a selection of exquisitely designed pieces set to elevate my spring/summer wardrobe and beyond.

I’ve been on alert for this drop since news of the partnership was first released and now that it’s here I’m ready to fill up my shopping cart! The offering is Beckham’s debut collection for Mango in honour of the high-street retailer’s 40th anniversary. Expect the designer’s signatures, like sharp tailoring, chic dresses and sophisticated minimalism, only at a more affordable price point of around £60 to £300 – yes please!

In this post, I’m going to divulge my top picks from what British Vogue has dubbed spring’s “hottest high-street collab”, along with where to show off these pieces and my tips on how to style.

True to the DNA of Beckham’s label and her widely praised personal style, her capsule in collaboration with the Spanish brand spotlights sharp tailoring, flattering silhouettes and classic neutrals, all with a focus on wearability. Timeless dressing with an elevated twist to champion the art of simplicity and make styling easy. How could anyone not be a fan?!

“Everything feels timeless,” Beckham told Vogue of the partnership. Great tailoring and beautiful dresses have long been a hallmark of the designer’s eponymous label and this collaboration really encapsulates these brand signatures.

Using Beckham’s long-beloved everyday uniform as a starting point, the capsule centres around super wearable pieces that will easily slot into your wardrobe. From dreamy crochet maxi skirts and dresses that work for beach walks or with tailoring and statement jewellery for dinners in the city, to chic waistcoats and cropped linen trenches that answer all your transitional layering conundrums.

Oh, and of course I can’t forget about the refined accessories that tie each look together with ease. This collection is for those who view shopping for new pieces as investing in building blocks to create outfits you’ll love and want to wear over and over.

The Tailoring

Anyone that knows me and my style is well aware that I’m a sucker for quality tailoring. Impeccably shaped silhouettes that feel structured but not too formal will always have a place in my wardrobe. And this collab hasn’t been afraid to shake up traditional styles, presenting a deconstructed take on sharply tailored pieces, while elevating the classics to feel super contemporary yet remain timeless.

Take the ecru suit waistcoat. It looks like a classic single-breasted blazer without the sleeves. A subtle slit front opening that starts at the waist gives it a more casual, contemporary feel, along with the daring open back and padded shoulders to create a bold shape. I personally love it with the pleated suit trousers of the same hue for a look I plan on being my answer to power dressing for the spring/summer season.

The Dresses & Skirts

One thing that really sets this collab apart from other spring/summer collections is its clear move away from the typical summer dresses and skirts we see around this time of year that focus on bright colours, frills and florals. Instead, the approach to the traditionally feminine silhouettes is simple and sleek to champion the beauty of minimalism. Trends have been interpreted in a very subtle way that feels super sophisticated.

Take the use of crochet fabric for the long-sleeve maxi dress and asymmetric skirt. The dress has a high neckline and open back which, for me, makes the whole piece. I can’t wait to style with bikinis or bandeau-top-and-micro-shorts combos underneath. And the skirt slots perfectly into my wardrobe – great with my rotation of black blazers and heels for an easy, elegant ensemble or with cropped tops and strappy sandals for a boho-inspired look.

Another stand-out piece I love is this peach-hued asymmetrical dress. Conjuring visions of romantic island-bound style, it’s got decorative stitching, a thigh split and a subtle waterfall hem while still keeping a minimalist feel.

The Versatile Layers

If you ask me, lightweight layers are the secret weapon of this collection. From the endlessly versatile cropped linen trench coat that you can rework again and again, to the sheer shirt channelling ‘90s-era Calvin Klein-style minimalism (and making yet another strong case for the sheer dressing trend). This collab has something for everyone.

Also on my list of favourites is the draped halter bodysuit sporting a plunging neckline and ruching details. Great with white or black tailored trousers and a blazer over the top, or with a flowy skirt.

The Accessories

Now let’s not forget about the accessories. Understated and elegant, building on simple styles that are tried and tested, this collection’s accessories provide the perfect finishing touches to outfits. My favourites? Strappy sandals with a slanted stiletto heel for a subtle statement, practical leather sandals with a chunky buckled ankle bracelet and, of course, a humongous tote that I plan on lugging everywhere this summer.
