Audemars Piguet Royal Oak by Tamara Ralph
In a groundbreaking collaboration, the world of haute couture has collided with haute horlogerie, as fashion designer Tamara Ralph joins forces with my favourite watch brand Audemars Piguet. I had the opportunity to look at the stunning new time piece, on the runway during Paris Haute Couture week. All I can say is, that this design collaboration is truly mesmerising.
ABOUT THE COLLABORATION
Although Audemars Piguet has had already a lot of partnerships with different brands, their first foray into fashion was during the first collaboration with R&R in 2020. During this time they already created an iconic new watch. This time they created two new pieces together and paired them with Tamara Ralphs couture pieces. Both of these houses have such a beautiful craftsmanship and together they created this new stunning piece.
Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon
There are two new models. Both of them are Royal Oak Concept Flying Tourbillon and they both have the same dial, which features an 18-carat rose gold case brushed finish and a multilayered dial with various shades. One of them comes with a rose gold alligator strap, while the other one has one in a more bronzy tone.
The watch is powered by the Calibre 2964 hand-wound movement with a flying tourbillon and has a 72-hour power reserve. The models is limited to 102 pieces, which makes it one of the rarest piece of Audemars Piguet.
The Frosted Gold finish is achieved through a unique process in which the application of a diamond-tipped tool to the surface of the gold, creates tiny indentations. It is also known as the Florentine technique, and I personally adore this look. It is shiny without being too flashy and it makes it easier to pair the watch with different jewelery pieces.
The collaboration between these two brands, is truly special. Seeing the vision of both the designer, Tamara Ralph, and the watch makers of Audemars Piguet come to life on the runway, was a once in a life time experience.
While my time in Paris, I paired the watch with this The Row suit and my favourite white shirt.
Please let me know your opinion on this iconic watch!
