Dior Toujours Bag Review

I thought I’d start this bag review off by apologising. For what, you may ask? For paying homage to the present Barbie epidemic we are all currently wrapped in. I know, I’m sure most of you are eye-rolling so hard you just made yourself dizzy, and some of you are giggling and kicking your feet as you just spent two hours picking out an outfit consisting of the most delightful variation of pinks and gorgeous bedazzled bags with the high heels to match — all for your 8 pm cinema booking tonight (or, if you’re a girl who likes to prepare, in that case, your cinema booking next week).

However, with all that said, the reason I mention Barbie is that it was the first thing that popped into my head when I set my eyes on this cute yet classy bag. So, here’s why…

Seemingly having hit the shelves of countless Dior stores worldwide in conjunction with the Barbie premiere. The Dior Toujours effortlessly playful Dior pendant — placed mere inches under its handle, carefully designed CD lock closure, and above all things, its elegant macrocannage stitching, which has become omnipresent in many of Dior’s innumerable creations are just a handful of qualities that make this bag feel as though it belongs on the arm of Barbie as she parades through the streets of Paris in her 5-inch high heels with her crisp white poodle sat perfectly on her hip.

However, in true Barbie fashion, the Dior Toujours isn’t exclusively tied to the streets of Paris. Just like Barbie herself, who to this day has had a staggering 200 careers from being an astronaut and an Olympic skier to a flight attendant and a presidential candidate. The Dior Toujours acts much the same, with its harmonious design allowing its wearers (or Barbies) to wear it on their arms no matter if they’re rushing out the door for work or going on a frivolous shopping spree in Monte Carlo.

Barbie and her astonishing 200 careers aside, the Dior Toujours has quickly become a must-have essential accessory. Dreamt up by Dior’s Creative Director, Maria Grazia Chiuri, this timeless bag was unveiled at the Dior Spring/Summer 2023 Ready-To-Wear show — a glance back at the past through the Italian noblewoman turned French Queen, Catherine de Medici — the Dior Toujour is distinguished by its elegant and chic silhouette, which the French luxury fashion house describes as both timeless and ultra-contemporary.

Carefully assembled by combining calfskin with its iconic macrocannage stitching, the Dior Toujours features a large internal compartment (a perfect place to keep your work iPad in), with a coordinated pouch to keep the essentials in order (a clutch that will take you from day-time to night-time seamlessly).
