BALLET FLATS COMEBACK
Let me describe a scene to you. Tamara, a 10-year-old visiting family in Spain, notices what will soon be her first pair of ballerina flats.
Ok we all know that is me and I am not going to continue writing this text in third person, so just bare with me until the end of the story. At the time, everyone of my classmates and peers desired trainers, but I was going through an elegant phase and cherished having distinctive clothing. My mother kindly purchased them for me, and they were black, matte leather with a small bow in front. She loved when I showed interest in clothes and expressed happiness that I am dressing so elegantly.
I wore the ballerinas for a few years before putting them away and forgetting about this particular form of shoe for maybe ten years.

Classic Perfection
I became fixated on a pair of black and white Chanel flats when I was again in Spain (eherm, is there a theme here?). I was specifically in Barcelona. These leather classics with an embossed logo at the toe cap were the epitome of perfection. If my memory serves me well, they were roughly 400€ (perhaps the one thing whose price Chanel hasn’t increased by 20 times in the last 10 years), and I wore them so frequently that they eventually probably cost just one penny to wear. Surely a wise investment?
Nonetheless after a few years I also invested in an all black and red pair of the same Chanel Ballet Flats.

LOVE THEM OR HATE THEM
I bought a pair of hot pink Chanel ballerinas two years ago in Paris and informed my pals that they were coming back in style. Some told me they were so repulsive and expressed their shock, while others indicated they would like to wait and see. The year is 2023, and my explore page is flooded with images of flat ballerina shoes. Miu Miu, Prada, and Chanel appear to be dominating the market, and I am there to take advantage of it with a carefully curated collection accumulated over the previous two years.

I wanted to share some of my fave ballerina flat shoes with you in today’s post, along with some of my favourite ways to wear them. I didn’t want to stop there, so I also wanted to provide you with some fantastic runway examples and inspiration since, believe it or not, there are still a tonne of ballerinas that I adore but either didn’t get or that I admire but don’t quite fit well into my wardrobe. Ladies and gentlemen (because who said ballerina flats were just for women?) I am overjoyed to see how comfortable fashion is becoming, that I can put my old shoes away and get some new ones, and that I get to share this piece with you today.
