VALENTINO PP PINK COLLECTION REVIEW

PP Pink, apart from being unique, is daring, big and bold- all terms now synonymous with Valentino Autumn/Winter 22 collection.

Having recently returned from Doha after seeing Valentino’s first exhibition in the Middle East and at the same time the largest one in its history, I thought it was perfect time to write about Valentino PP Pink collection.

Forever Valentino exhibition that I visited features 260 pieces and accessories that were created for likes of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elizabeth Taylor and Zendaya. This exhibition is a colourful sensory experience, which shows pieces of superlative cutting that I strongly recommend you visit if you can. It will run until the 1st of April 2023 in Doha, Qatar at design and innovation hub M7.

For this seasons Valentino show, I got to wear pieces from the PP Pink collection.
For my look, I wore ALL PINK of course. I opted for a longsleeve mini dress, paired it with tights and the Tan-Go 165 patent-leather platform pumps. The bag that I chose for this look was none other than the the Small Roman Stud Shoulder Bag.

This whole collection is painted in vivid, hot PP Pink that was specially designed in collaboration with Pantone Color Institute for that occasion.

Historically, Valentino has been associated with their distinctive V logo and their iconic red colour or ‘Valentino rosso’. However, for the Valentino Autumn/Winter 22 collection, Pierpaolo Piccioli found a genius way to place attention on geometric silhouettes and more than ever on unique physique of the person behind the clothes.

The colour is described by Valentino as manifestation of unconscious and a liberation from the need for realism. This description has made this monochrome collection even more revolutionary.  Pierpaolo has succeeded in doing more with less, worked with a single hue and magnified both the humans and the clothing.

Whereas both men’s and women’s collections feature significant pink tone, there were subtle pops of all black and all white that turned this fashion show into immersive sensory experience.

The collection features sensual s-shaped lines, cinched waists and short hemlines. Connection of the collection with femininity was done through clever decorations- dainty bows, ruffles, petals, organza, and embroideries could be seen on many pieces.

Accessories, including the hardware were also touched by pink.

Bags appear to be different proportions than we have seen before and are adorned with sparkling crystals, single closure studs and floral embellishments. Three focus bags of this collection are the Valentino Garavani One Stud, Valentino Garavani Roman Stud, and Valentino Garavani Locò all with their new sleek and sophisticated looks.

The Valentino Garavani One Stud nappa top handle is introduced in a mini size and features oversized singular clasp closure. It has adjustable shoulder strap, so you can wear it as a mini crossbody bag or carry it by hand. PP Pink version is very attention grabbing, but this model has been elevated even further.

The Valentino Garavani One Stud Small bag also comes in all over pink pp rhinestones and it is guaranteed to be talk of the town.

Zendaya can be seen in campaign images wearing The Valentino Garavani Small Roman Stud Shoulder Bag. This number features house’s signature maxi studs, but this time in showstopping PP Pink tone. It has detachable metal pink chain and is very versatile bag that can be worn on the shoulder or carried by it’s top handle.

Going to this seasons Valentino show, this was also the bag of my choice.

Valentino Garavani Locò has been decorated with appliqué 3D leather flowers and features metallic V Logo signature detail. Locò has pink metallic shoulder strap with removable sliding chain and pink-on-pink finish hardware.

Boots, shoes and trainers have all been featured in PP Pink hue and elevated for this special occasion. Collection shows the Valentino Garavani Club, which is a statement boot, the Valentino Garavani Discobox that are multi-height platforms, Valentino Garavani Tan-Go, a platform pump and the Valentino Garavani One-Stud XL which are presented as a unisex dynamic trainers.

HAS PINK PP BECAME THE NEW SIGNATURE COLOUR OF VALENTINO?

I love this collection and everything it stands for. It is genius how it has shifted focus to the person behind the clothes and made us realise again that less is more.

While Valentino continues to paint cities in pink, the talk in fashion circles is becoming Valentno Toile Iconographe and if you love PP Pink hue, you are guaranteed to love this new graphic design.
