VALENTINO GARAVANI STUD SIGN BAG REVIEW

We’ve seen Valentino’s signature studs reinterpreted in a myriad of beautiful designs in recent seasons.
None more so than Valentino’s handbags.
For over a decade Valentino studs have emerged as a staple of the Italian fashion house and have come to embody its elegant punk-ish aesthetic.

The newest installment in Valentino’s cohort of studded handbag gems is the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign Bag.

New for Fall/Winter 2021, the Stud Sign Shoulder Bag was designed by the house’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli as part of the Valentino Act Collection. Featuring a logoed flap opening and accordion sides, this new Valentino stud bag is as functional as it is lust-worthy.

I was able to get my hands on this hot new studded design in the colour light ivory.

In this post, I’m going to review this hot new Valentino Garavani accessory and detail why it’s fast becoming a must-have amongst the fashion crowd.

There’s certainly more than one standout feature of the Valentino Garavani Stud Sign Bag.

But the bag’s chain made up of Roman Studs is perhaps my favourite.

I love these enlarged studs on designs such as my Roman Stud Top Handle Bag. But to see a chain strap consisting entirely of the adornment which has played such a big role in the evolution of the Valentino brand is alluring on another level.
The Roman Studs are joined through rectangular metal loops.

It’s exciting to see Piccioli incorporating these studs into his bag designs in a new way.

The other prominent design feature of this new style is the VLogo Signature motif placed in the centre. Akin to Valentino’s other recent logoed bags, the Stud Sign Bag also sports a flap opening.

However, distinctly different to the likes of the VLogo Top Handle and Alcove bags, the Stud Sign is a shoulder bag instead of a top handle style.

Functionality is at the design’s core.

The bag’s long Roman Stud chain strap, in addition to the leather shoulder strap, allows the flap style to be worn on the shoulder and fall around the midriff.

This makes the design stand out amongst the slew of popular under the arm shoulder bags available today.

The stud chain strap is detachable so you have the option to carry the bag solely with the leather shoulder strap which can be adjustable or removed altogether.

The Stud Sign is available in one size only, which works best as a compact everyday bag.

The accordion sides allow for maximum room inside to carry the essentials and perhaps something a little extra if necessary. The interior constructed from bright red nappa lining features one zipped pocket and one open slip pocket.
Thanks to the magnetic closure, you can access your possessions easily.

I’ve found the Valentino Stud Sign Bag to be so functional that I chose the style to accompany me to the Valentino Spring/Summer 2022 show during the recent Paris fashion Week.

Its roomy interior and practical shoulder carry options made it the perfect fashion week accessory.

For the recent Valentino show, I paired my light ivory Stud Sign Bag with Valentino’s thick-soled rose rubber boots and wore these accessories with a preppy skirt and shirt combo.

This new addition to the Valentino stud bag family occupies a gap in the brand’s offering.

The design combines Valentino’s most popular design elements, notably the house’s popular VLogo design and signature studs, with the functional appeal of the classic shoulder flap bag style.
