Pierpaolo Piccioli’s handbag game for Valentino has been on fire recently. The creative director’s new designs for the house, from the Roman Stud top handle, to the Atelier Bucket bag, are simply sizzling with style.
Piccioli’s latest bag brainchild is no exception.
Say hello to the new Valentino Garavani Rockstud Alcove handbag.
Introduced as part of Valentino Garavani’s pre-autumn 2021 collection, this new top handle design presents all the tropes of a Valentino classic but in a fresh new way. Some of the bag’s most notable features include Valentino’s popular VLogo which is adorned with the house’s signature Rockstuds, a Valentino staple since 2010.
The Alcove’s structured and compact design makes it the perfect bag to showcase Valentino’s contemporary elegance and charm.
I’ve been fortunate enough to get my hands on the small size of the new Valentino Garavani Alcove bag in the colour black.
In this post, I’m going to share with you my first impressions of Valentino Garavani’s latest handbag release and tell you everything there is to know about this covetable new style.

The fashion crowd is fixated on the new Valentino Garavani Alcove bag, myself included.
The overall look of the bag is akin to the Valentino VLogo Top Handle bag however there are some key differences. The prominent double twist-lock closure and separate compartments make the bag stand out both in terms of practicality and finish.
The contrast of the sleek black leather and ornate antique brass finish hardware typifies Valentino’s rich and illustrious Italian heritage.
Valentino Garavani’s now famous Rockstuds have consolidated their place as a house staple since first appearing on bags and shoes at the house over a decade ago.
The new Roman Stud collection featuring enlarged versions of the classic Rockstud has garnered immense popularity since its release earlier this year.
However, the Alcove bag is a clear sign that the original Valentino stud isn’t going anywhere.
And considering studded designs are evidently Valentino’s thing, it makes sense that the house would use more than one kind of stud.
The Valentino Garavani Alcove is perfect for those of us who believe that an organised bag is a lust worthy bag. The bag is split into two separate interior compartments and features interior pockets as well as an exterior flap pocket on the front.
So it’s hard not to keep your possessions organised when donning this Valentino Garavani treasure.

The bag has several carry options. You can carry as a sophisticated top handle style. You can also carry the bag over the shoulder or crossbody using the adjustable and detachable strap.
It’s ideal as a statement top handle style to carry at elegant soirées.
But is equally functional as a bag to stuff with just the essentials (in an organised fashion, of course) and wear crossbody out and about.
I’ve been styling my little black version with baggy jeans and oversized blazers and the Valentino Garavani Rockstud Alcove patent-leather pumps (another emerging Valentino staple).
I love the sleek black finish of this bag but I have to confess I am tempted by the rouge pur colour option,
As far as wishes go, I would also love to get my hands on the teeny tiny micro version of the bag. As if we needed yet another sign that micro bags are here to stay, Valentino Garavani has released its covetable new Alcove style in micro form!
But does the design have staying power?
With its unmistakable Valentino branding, sleek design and functionality, I’m betting on the Alcove soon becoming a house classic.
Do you think the new Valentino Garavani Rockstud Alcove is set for ‘It’ bag status?
