Morning Habits For Being More Productive

This year, I am working on myself for myself.

Eager to learn and experience more, I keep on trying to enrich my daily life with habits that will enhance my personal and professional growth. Success is something that we all want in our lives, and on many occasions for it to come, it requires a critical change of mindset.

Taking the decision to change yourself and your actions is often a top priority in our New Year’s Resolution, but often we are not quite ready to make the sacrifices in order to make it.

Some say that wolf changes its hair but never its temper, and I do agree, but at the same time I’ve hear it takes a human being a minimum of 21 day to form a habit. So we are changeable in a way. The problem is that some of those changes come with sacrifices we are often not ready to make. Forming new habits for the better should be high on your list of priorities for 2020.

Especially for you I have created a list of all the habits that changed the way I work and thought it would be helpful to you too. This year is another opportunity to reflect and see how to overcome all the obstacles and live that dream life. Success comes when you are focused and surrounded with amazing people with loads of positive energy and determination, but creating habits that you will follow is the first step to transform your everyday life, one step at a time.  Of course you know I do not believe that success is possible without hard work, but that comes also down to habits.

Before I talk to you about these habits I wanted to say that I didn’t always live by them. I used to like to do everything my own comfortable way, but once I set some rules I started noticing changes very quickly. Note that consistency is the key. Let’s make this year, our best so far!

Rise and Shine

Vogue Editor Anna Wintour gets out of her bed at 5:45 am and Apple CEO Tim Cook gets up at around 3:45am. How you start the day can affect your mood and give you a sense of control at first over your days, but most importantly over your life. I wake up at 6am every morning and this gives me 3 hour head start before anyone else. By adopting this attitude, you are a step closer to achieving your goals, spend time with your family and loved ones and take care of your body and soul. After all, you snooze, you lose, right?

Meditate

A healthy habit to keep you relaxed and peaceful. Starting your day with silence can be extremely important, as it is closely connected to your positive emotions and experiences. Staying in touch with your inner self and letting everything go, while focusing on your breath can transform your daily life and reduce the levels of stress dramatically. I had the chance to try meditation at my Last Trip with La Mer in Vals, and it is something that I absolutely need to have in my everyday routine. Currently what really helps me clear my head is a 60 seconds practise of breathing.  As soon as I finish with a long chunk of work, I like to break it off with a minute of only breathing , focusing only on inhaling and exhaling.

Exercise

Morning Exercise is the best way to wake up your body and mind. Hitting the gym early gives an amazing boost to your body and affects your mood in the best possible way. There is a sense of accomplishment with getting your exercise done before going to the office, and if your office is at home like mine, 30min work out at home will also do. Did I also mention that you sleep better as well?

Journal

Oh, one of my favourite things to do in the morning! On my nightstand you will find my beloved journal. Minutes after I wake up I will start my day by writing all the things I feel grateful for. We all may have bad days, but finding something good in every day is my secret to always staying positive and calm. Since I started journaling, my mind-set changed completely and I cannot recommend it enough for you too. Let me know in your comments below if you are journaling, and how it changed your life.

Power Breakfast

Now, I want to be fully honest with you guys, this is something that I want to work on as well.  Making a healthy breakfast with highly nutritional value will both keep your energy levels high throughout the day and your brain sharp! Few of my favourite breakfast options are either a bowl of oatmeal or some granola with fresh berries and yoghurt. Let’s not forget about a cup of americano with dash of oat milk, I don’t care if this habit is good or not it is for sure my favourite one!

I would love to hear if you also found some habits that are helping you stay more productive? Would you like me to talk more about my productivity habits at work? If I start with my to do lists, you know we are opening a massive Pandora’s Box.

Wishing you all a very successful 2020.

xoxo, Tamara
