Kick January With A Sneaker

WITH A NEW YEAR COMES A NEW WISHLIST RIGHT?

My love for shoes is well documented in my last youtube video, and by now you probably know that my collection would be incomplete without some styles that bring me comfort, yep Im talking about sneakers.

The Sneaker Trend took by storm the year of 2018, being one of the most popular Google searches of the fashion community and according to my research, it seems that it is here to stay. It might not be as big as it was for the past two years, but fashion brands such as Gucci and Fendi have already presented their new styles on some of my favourite online shopping destinations like Net-a-Porter and MyTheresa.

Find below a trend guide if you are looking to invest in a new pair of sneakers and be updated with the 2020 trends. Enjoy!

Who doesnt remember the bestseller Gucci’s bejewelled version? A sneaker (but not really) that every fashionista added to her cart, for the character and witty design of Alessandro Michele’s unique aesthetic. By far my favourite are the ones by Louis Vuitton also known as Archlights. They are cool, and come in different patterns and colours. Absolutely love them!

Collection of both Balenciaga and Gucci, were filled with more eye-catching colour palette. Contrasting tones blending together, neon details and vibrant shades are giving a cool upgrade to the dad sneaker that every fashionista has gone crazy about. The colour-blocking ones by Valentino and Chloe are absolutely worth the money, elevating a simple jeans and a t-shirt outfit in seconds.

Platform soles are not new. In 2018 and 2019 we saw the oversized sneakers everywhere on instagram.  Likes of Gucci, Stella McCartney and the mainstream styles of Nike and Fila. To be honest, it is not one of my favourite styles but I do believe that styling can do wonders if you know your fashion well. Personal Choice? I quite like the Alexander McQueen version I have linked below for you guys. I don’t own them, but I like their simple and effortless design.

Old-school styles are continuing on making a comeback in 2020. You could see them on the feet of everyone during Fashion Week and on the ultimate Icon Phoebe Philo who is  never without her Stan Smith. The trend of everything 1990s is also big when it comes to sneakers. I predict that we are going to have even more classic styles making their way into the new decade, what do you guys think?

Two of the biggest trends of 2019. Logomania is still upgrading designer pieces landing on retailers like Selfridges and Harrods, with logo sneakers being a trend that will be big in 2020. Gucci and Fendi are the two brands known for their statement twist on this trend, but the one that everyone is going after has to be Chanel. A top search online because their design and beautiful colour palette is irresistible even to the fashion lovers who are not crazy about the athleisure trend. Their timeless logo makse them the perfect investment piece to start the new decade on the right foot – pun intended.

Is 2020 going to find you in your Favourite pair of Sneakers? Let me know in the comments below!

xoxo, Tamara
