Desert Glow
Walking around the deserts of Arizona between most incredible looking cacti is officially checked off my bucket list. That calming zen experience is something I could have only dreamt about until recently. I also found out that the effect wasn’t only beautiful for me, but that Arizona has really special properties, as its energy is different due to different vegetation and geology there.
If you followed my instagram and youTube you then for sure now know exactly where I’ve been and what Id id, and you know that i had a huge please of joining Proenza Schouler designer duo team on a trip which was really once in a life time. We went to experience all the places that were inspiration behind their first fragrance called…well, ARIZONA.
I was always curious to see how artists work, how they get inspiration and why did they go for a certain vibe and not the other. How do they know what trends to go for, how do they always get it right. Proenza Schouler have been high on my radar since 2011 when they won a Womenswear Designer of the Year Award. I was religiously buying their bags and shoes, but in this post, you can see something different, and we will be talking about this warm, fragrance that is a perfect addition to their work so far.

The Details
Im not gonna tell you all we did on this trip, so to see us sleeping in a tent somewhere close to Grand Canyon, and discovering Red Rocks, you really have to watch the YouTube video HERE. I will now focus a little bit more on the fragrance that both Dusan and I were immediately in love with. Ok, its a women’s fragrance, but there is no need for labels in 21st century, and I think he decided to gift a bottle to his mom for Christmas, as you always want people around you smelling of the scent you specially love. A little bit selfish, but why not haha.
During the trip I found out the components of the fragrance and what caught my attention the most was the white cactus flower. Due to its special mineral component it gives a very radiant and warm scent to the fragrance. The most interesting part of all is that this flower blooms only once a year and during one night only, which made it very hard to find and extract what was needed for the fragrance.
Besides the scent I thought the bottle itself is a piece of art itself. Inspired by the ravines and ridges of rocks and deserts in Arizona its asymmetrical and totally different to anything else I have seen. What do you think?
My dress is also by Proenza Schouler’s new collection and I have to admit that even though its a knit dress and I shot this look in a very warm desert, it was very comfortable and light to wear. It again reminded me why PS are such a successful designer duo, as it seems that everything they try to do turns out more than magical.
