My weekend in Amsterdam is now behind me, but I can tell you that I had a fabulous time. As you know, I went there for the SuperTrash AW14 show, and that is what this post is about. You can see what I wore to the occasion, dress code was industrial chic, as the show took place in an abandoned factory outside Amsterdam. The venue, the spectacle and the show were really something special, very different to most of the shows, as the designer, Olcay Gulsen loves giving her guests something different, like the music and light show. I had a pleasure of interviewing the designer, which you can read below. There are many pieces from the AW14 that I would love to own, the whole collection is very empowering, and I could imagine a strong, independent women wearing it. My favourite piece? High heeled boots that I have to put my hands on, as well as a jumpsuit which looked gorgeous due to its simplicity.
After congratulating her on an amazing show, I asked the designer few questions and found out many things:
1.What inspired your collection?
The evolution of woman inspired this AW14 collection. I really focused on that big bang theory, and went back to the core and power of women when creating the pieces.
2.Why did you start your own brand?
I was only 23 when I created my own brand, and I really had the urge to make something my own. I went to New York for the fashion week, where I met girl who was talking about SuperTrash, once I went back to Netherlands I felt so inspired, that this energy turned into the strong identity, concept, which turned into the brand and then into the collection.
3.What are the future plans for ST?
There are many plans,as I am extremely ambitious. I want to expand the brand and make it well known brand worldwide. Spreading around the rest of the world would be the next step.
4.You graduated from the HR course, which is something unrelated to the fashion. How did you end up in the fashion industry and what is it that you think is behind your success?
I always lived for fashion, but my mother insisted I study economy, business, or something similar to that. I completed HR course, but always lived fashion. It all happened naturally, because I knew that I really wanted to fulfil my dream, and do what I love.
5.What advice would you give to young entrepreneurs?
A lot of my success comes from the fact that I can relate myself to anyone I talk to. Good will is extremely important, as well as determination in achieving your dreams.Being quick and confident in business is really important.
Moj vikend u Amsterdamu je iza nas, ali vam mogu reci da sam se neverovatno provela. Kao sto znate, tamo sam bila zbog SuperTrash AW14 revije i ovaj post je upravo o tome. U postu takodje mozete videti sta sam obukla za ovu priliku, jer sam outfit uslikala za vas i po povratku kuci. Dress Code je bio industrijski sik, jer je revija odrzana u napustenoj fabrici van Amsterdama. Lokacija, spektakl i kolekcija su bili nesto neverovatno, totalno drugacije od svih revija koje sam do sada videla, jer je dizajnerka Olcay Gulsen poznata po tome da voli da iznenadi svoje goste pravom magijom,u smislu igre muzikom i svetlima. Imala sam cast da porazgovaram sa njom i za vas saznala neke stvari, kao sto mozete procitati ispod. Ima mnogo toga sto bih volela da imam iz AW14 kolekcije, jer je sve zenstveno ali sa namerom da zeni koja nosi da samopouzdanje i moc. Omiljeni komadi su mi cizme na stiklu koje mozete videti ispod i kombinezon koji je savrsen zbog svoje jednostavnosti. Nakon sto sam cestitala dizajnerki na savrsenoj kolekciji, uputila sam joj nekoliko kratkih pitanja:
1.Sta je inspiracija iza ove kolekcije?
Evolucija zena me je zaista inspirisala kada sam razmisljala o AW14 kolekciji. Koncentrisala sam se na teoriju veolikog praska, srz i moc zena u danasnje vreme, a iz toga su izasli proizvodi.
2.Sta vas je navelo da sa malo godina zapocnete svoj brend?
Imala sam samo 23 godine kada sam osnovala svoj brend. Imala sam neverovatnu zelju da napravim nesto svoje. Otisla sam u Njujork na nedelju mode, gde sam upoznala divnu devojku koja je pricala o SuperTrash-u, odnosno o konceptu i nacinu zivotu. Po povratku u Holandiju bila sam toliko inspirisana ovim razgovorima, da sam tu energiju pretvorila u jak identitet, koji se pretvorio u brend, a brend u kolekcije.
3.Koji su planovi za buducnost ST?
Imam jako puno planova, jer sam po prirodi ambiciozna i uvek zelim vise. Sledeci korak bi bio prosirenje na internacionalna trzista i da ST postane svetski poznata marka.
4.Diplomirali ste na fakultetu za ljudske resurse, sto je nesto nevezano za modu. Kako ste se odlucili za ovaj preokret u karijeri i sta se krije iza ovog uspeha?
Oduvek sam zivela za modu, ali je moja majka insistirala da studiram nesto vezano za ekonomiju ili menadzment. Zavrsila sam HR studije ali sam se hranila modom. Sve se prirodno razvilo, jer sam znala da zelim da ispunim svoj san i radim ono sto volim.
5.Kakav savet biste dali mladima koji zele da se oprobaju u samostalnom biznisu?
Veliki deo omg uspeha dolazi odatle sto se uvek pronadjem u drugim ljudima i lako komuniciram. Dobra volja je jako bitna, kao i odlucnost u ostvarenju svojih ciljeva. U poslu je najbitnije biti brz i pokazati samopouzdanje.
